Bloodhound SSC is a high-speed technical sim that captures the engineering marvel of the world's fastest land-speed vehicle. It is less of a 'racing' game and more of a precision control challenge. As an expert in technical sims, I appreciated the focus on the aerodynamics and power management required to break the sound barrier. The sense of speed is well-conveyed, but it is the tension of keeping the car stable at 1000mph that provides the real hook.

The graphics are functional and clear, focusing on the desert landscape and the mechanical data of the vehicle. While it lacks the 'fun' of an arcade racer, it excels at providing a realistic look at the physics of supersonic travel. The challenge modes—which task you with hitting specific speed milestones while managing engine heat—are rewarding for those who enjoy the 'test pilot' experience. It’s a niche title, but a highly polished one for fans of engineering and land-speed records.

Calling this a 'game' is a bit of a stretch, and the developer admits as much. It’s a simulation in the purest, most utilitarian sense of the word. You sit in a cockpit, you follow a very specific sequence of engine ignitions, and you try not to flip over while going in a straight line. The physics are undoubtedly accurate—Austin Meyer doesn't miss on that front—but the 'entertainment' value is incredibly low for anyone who isn't an engineering enthusiast.

The visuals are dated, the interface is purely functional, and there’s absolutely no sense of progression outside of mastering a single, very specific task. It’s an interesting curiosity, especially if you followed the real-world Bloodhound project, but as a software product in 2026, it’s a relic. It’s more of a technical white paper with a graphical interface than a racing game.

I don't advise you to drive ONE THOUSAND MILES PER HOUR, but if you ever DO want to.. well... then THIS is the car to do it in.

The people of the Bloodhound Programme , Ltd, are building an interesting car.

This car, designed to go over one THOUSAND miles per hour, uses a Cosworth racing V-8 engine... to TURN ONE OF THE FUEL PUMPS.

This car uses an after-burning fighter-jet engine... for THE LOW-SPEED PORTION OF THE RUN.

Truly breaking every rule of convention, the Bloodhound seeks to exceed one THOUSAND miles per hour... with a driver on board, steering it through the desert.

This App, by Austin Meyer, the creator of X-Plane, is no game.

This is a REALISTIC representation of what it will be like to drive this car... undoubtedly the FASTEST CAR IN THE WORLD.

If you can master the Bloodhound in this App, then you will actually be familiar with the operating characteristics of the real car.
