A small daily golf game to go with your morning coffee.
A new course every day. Sink the five holes in any order, using the fewest strokes possible. Share your flawless score with friends as you try to forget about all the lily pads you left in the water.
I’ve been looking for a golf game like this for a while. A simple arcade like game to share with friends that doesn’t take forever to play. Aside from a couple glitches where the ball will stop out of nowhere while rolling, almost like it hit a bump, there isn’t much I would change about this game. I love the added friends section! I think it would be cool to show the friends first attempt and their best attempt for that particular day. That would help with the not so honest friends who mysteriously get consistent hole in ones! As for the back half of my title, people complain too much, I’m talking to the people complaining about shot variability. Yeah it can be wild sometimes but that’s golf. After playing one hole, you learn to take more conservative shots. I still consistently get in the top 10% while taking those less risky shots. All it takes is a little more thought into what order to play the holes and realizing that your ball will land anywhere within the white circle at the end of your shot trajectory. The further the shot, the higher the chance is of it being wild. If you’re looking for a golf game that you can control every single aspect of what the ball does, this might not be the game for you. If you’re looking for a quick golf game to play with your friends, this is definitely it.
This game is great and I love how it’s a new course everyday. The only thing I would change would be the ability to replay a course over and over. There have been plenty of times where I’ll play a course, send my score to my friends, then somehow by some miracle the same friend keeps getting “lucky” hole in 1’s in every hole and they end up in the top 1%. Once in awhile is lucky, but everytime? I’m not sure. I think only your first score should count (unless you want to watch an ad for a 2nd attempt) however, if you are someone who just keeps resetting the app everytime you don’t get a score you like, I feel like there should be an indicator in that persons scorecard that it is not a legitimate attempt. Maybe if they attempt a course more than twice they don’t get the “top ___%” icon at the end of their score? Not sure, but just a suggestion! Other than that one minor issue this game is fantastic and my family loves playing and sending our scores to eachother. 10/10.
Love the concept and got a fair number of people playing. Downloaded the newest version with more accuracy (miss the cozy coffee cup icon), doesn’t fix the problems. I dont mind there’s some drift in the shot -IF- I get to have a sense of how. Wind direction flags in other golf games at least inform me how it’ll drift, so I have a chance of compensating, instead of it being a complete and arbitrary surprise each shot. I cant adjust my shot to get more accurate each time. Not fun to be not informed. // This pairs poorly with extreme bounce in your only long distance shot having tremendous bounce on tiny platforms and islands. Other golf games have a topspin/backspin to control bounce, if the goal is to make you land on a smaller/more accurate platform. Everyone ive shared it with complains about endless water shots resetting your position, with little to be done about it. // Give us some sense of how the ball will drift so we have a chance to adjust and plan our shot, and give us a way to control the bounce distance if the intention is to have lots of small platforms but only 3 clubs. I’d have no real complaints after that. Golf is fun for precision and planning, and the -unpredictable- drift and limited bounce control take away from that. Everyone ive shared it with voiced the same problems with it - wanting to get better at controlling their shot but having no ability to improve.
The game itself is pretty fun, one of those games you can play for just a few minutes and not get too invested. You get a course with 5 holes which you can go after in any order, going directly from one to the next. Challenges include way too much water and your ball getting stuck under trees. It runs a little ranking with your friends for each day's course. There is no way to play multiplayer with your friends, only random matches, so that's something that could be improved. The ads in this app are really, really obnoxious, and that has cost it a star. They're so bad, it should really be two. Everything you do involves watching one of those really loud ads you can't skip for a long time and then sends you to the App Store without permission which is gross. The recent update that added tour challenges has cost it a star because it took something fun and made it frustrating to the point that I've lost interest in playing. I had already played about 80 holes of tour mode, so I'm in much harder courses where it's incredibly hard to get 5 courses in a row, so I guess I get to miss out on all the freebies other people will get on the super easy ones. The game also offers the purchase of "gems" for real money, but they appear to have no use because all of the cosmetics it offers are only available for purchase with "gold" from multiplayer matches.
The game is almost perfect, it’s beautiful and simple, controls are great, and I love the once-a-day aspect of it… keeping my streak keeps me coming back every day, and having feedback on what percentile my score is is nice (although you could just tell us what percentile we got, not just “top 50%”)… The major flaw is that there appears to be a built in amount of “random error” in each shot… sometimes I take a shot and the ball just goes way right or left! It’s unpredictable and can turn an easy hole into a disaster… as a result, getting a good score involves too much luck, and no amount of skill can overcome it… if there were wind or some sort of timing mechanic to allow the player to control the ball’s direction of travel this would be so much better… worried that it’d be too easy if the player could rely on where the ball will go? It won’t be easy, the holes are plenty challenging… personally, I think it’d be perfect if they just removed the random error and left everything as it is… it’s a really good game that I just can’t play any more because it’s too aggravating to line up a shot and have it hit a tree you were aiming well to the left of…
I absolutely love the game and enjoy having something to come back to everyday like Wordle is. I even enjoy the competitive factor against friends and the percentile to see how well you do. The new pro tours have greatly improved the longevity of the game and the diversity of maps is such a great addition. However, the game is not perfect. The random error or wind or whatever causes the ball to randomly drift off to the exact spot I was trying to avoid is extremely aggravating. Every time I have a good shot lined up it’ll drift into a tree, the water, or a small bump that launches the ball off somewhere else making it impossible to skillfully line up your shots. If there was a wind feature that you could adjust for it would make the game better but without it you just have to try and shoot extra conservative and miss out on being able to get hole in ones for the most part. Hopefully this will be updated and added upon but even with this flaw the game is still great.
I like the game for the daily round of 5 holes, I actually do it while having coffee in the morning. The Pro Tour seemed like a good idea and I was interested in the idea of playing against others. I’ve come to see that I am playing against bots or AI, not other people. I’ve seen the “opponent” take a shot that bounces wide into water or off the area, but then the ball is on the green somehow. That’s not fair. I follow the golf bot around the course and match them shot for shot. Every time they make amazing shots. I have a hard time believing there are that many live people making those perfect shots. Seems unlikely. On the first level of Pro Tour, the Brew, the bot will mess up sometimes ( maybe it is a real person). But on higher levels like Beans and Mocha, i rarely get a win even if I get every hole in two strokes or less. I paid for coins once and they disappeared quickly on the Mocha tour, so I won’t be spending anymore money on that. If they’re not going to match us with real people who are online, at least program the AI to make a mistake once in a while like a real person.
The game is overall great. Fun concept, fun gameplay on paper but actually somewhat aggravating. I think some tweaks are needed. 1. Shot randomness is too variable and can make your ball wildly unpredictable, turning this game away from a skill-based game. Changing to a meter for shot accuracy would be better and allow for more skill-based gameplay 2. The maps are frustrating. Why is there so much water? I feel like an occasional pond or lake would be nice, but tiny aggravating islands makes for frustrating gameplay 3. The driver controls / indicator is misleading and frustrating to use, especially with the larger bodies of water. The ball bounces WILDLY, and I’m assuming the ball is going to land and stay within the pictured circle when it almost always does not, often landing in the water. I fully understand that the circle is just where the ball “could” land (randomness factor) but my brain doesn’t work that way. I then have to either greatly undershoot where I want the ball to end up or try to bounce the ball off something like a or a ridge. If there is a large body of water to cross (item #2 above), it makes me almost fully reliant on the lilly pads that spawn in after landing in the water, which is no fun. I should be able to make those shots without going into the water. I think if you fix item #2 above, it could lead to this point being almost fully resolved.
The physics of the game are pretty good but there are too many flaws to rate this high. The dumbest tree placement along with the very high chance of hitting them even when you’re ball path is obviously away from the tree, makes this annoying. The accuracy logic also ruins this game- when you line up a perfect shot, which is always needed to get past these stupid trees, it may just go short, long, left or right enough to go under another poorly placed tree and lose the round. Some of the holes are purposely designed so you have to use extra shots since the 3 clubs can only do so much. When you play the tournaments, it can’t be against humans since their shots are more accurate than ours and they’ll generally finish all 5 holes before you are on your second. And then you lose trophies, keeping you stuck in a never ending uphill battle. Developers need to make make some serious updates. Had high hopes but the more I play, the less I want to play…
This game is a great game with a great concept and great gameplay! There are 2 modes The main mode called Classic is this games take on the “wordle craze” going on in todays market. It’s a daily course that everyone plays and you can compare your scores to that of your friends and share on social media. It’s a really cool idea! And I love it! The secondary mode is called Pro Tour and it’s a mode where you play against another player in a 5 hole course for in game currency. The difficulty of the course which you select before you play determines how much in game currency you win The game is a free game but has micro transactions You can buy more gems to buy cosmetics and you can pay $5 to have no ads in the pro tour mode and the ability to replay the daily classic course as many times as you want! Ultimately the only reason this game isn’t perfect is because the ads in the pro tour mode are not there immediately from downloading the game and after spending hours playing the game they finally only came on between every round you play. To me that’s a little concerning because it’s like they want to hook you just to keep you even with the ads later on I’m all for devs making their money. But be upfront about it! So there that’s that! Fun game. The classic mode is the only mode worth playing if you are one that hates ads
