College Lacrosse 2014 is a niche title that fills a significant gap in the sports gaming market. As one of the few lacrosse simulations available, it captures the 'fastest game on two feet' with a surprising amount of detail. The gameplay is fast-paced and requires a good understanding of field positioning and passing. While the graphics are a bit dated by modern standards, the heart of the game—the stick-skills and the flow of the match—is solid.

It’s clearly a passion project for fans of the sport. The ability to customize teams and play through a full season provides a good amount of replayability for lacrosse enthusiasts. It may not have the polish of a major studio release, but for those who live and breathe lacrosse, it’s a rare and appreciated opportunity to play the sport digitally. It's a cult classic for a reason.

Look, I appreciate the attempt to bring a less mainstream sport like lacrosse to the digital space, but College Lacrosse 2014 feels like it’s stuck in the locker room. As a gamer who’s seen the evolution of sports sims over three decades, I expect a certain level of tactile feedback. Here, the controls feel sluggish, and the '10-on-10' action often devolves into a messy scramble where the AI seems more interested in running into walls than executing a fast break. It’s functional, sure, but the lack of polish in the animations makes the whole experience feel like a budget title from 2008 rather than a 2014 release. It’s hard to stay engaged when the 'simulation' aspect is so thin.

The progression is equally uninspiring. You play, you win, you move on, but there’s no weight to the season. The UI is clunky and looks like it was designed in a weekend. I’ve played enough sports games to know that if the core loop doesn't feel rewarding, no amount of 'favorite teams' will save it. It’s a pass for me unless you are a die-hard lacrosse fan who has literally no other way to play the sport on your phone. Even then, keep your expectations low.
