Curse of the Cobra is another atmospheric winner from Fire Maple Games. If you've played 'The Lost City' or 'Grisly Manor,' you know what to expect: a slow-paced, beautifully illustrated point-and-click adventure. The game excels at creating a sense of place, taking you from the streets of London and New York to the pyramids of Cairo. The hand-painted art is gorgeous and makes exploring every corner of the screen a joy.

The puzzles are well-integrated into the world and mostly logic-based, though some of the item combinations can be a bit obscure. It’s not a particularly long game—most players will wrap it up in about 4 hours—but it’s a high-quality experience while it lasts. If you’ve played one hidden object game, you’ve played them all, and Curse of the Cobra does very little to move the needle. The 1930s setting is fine, but the writing is stiff and the puzzles are the same 'find the wrench' chores we’ve seen since the early 2000s. It’s competent, but it lacks the soul of a true adventure game. It’s the kind of game you play while waiting for a flight and forget immediately after landing.
