Consistent excellent play
Mon Dec 19 2022 ErgoemosI’m a general fan of Gamecoaster’s work and when this released I immediately checked it out. At the start it was a little rough around the edges, but nonetheless fun. In the two/three months it’s been out, they’ve streamlined the primary gameplay loop, made it more accessible, and have added a lot of fun additional content.
Knowing the developers, I expect more changes and expansions over time and I look forward to the development processes. I expect quality of life improvements throughout the life of the game too. Honestly the only thing id appreciate is something that reduces the… animation cycle of the characters, but I’m here for the gameplay not the tame titillation.
A game with an upfront cost and in-game purchases is usually a big no from me, and I don’t blame anyone for whom this is a deal breaker. But gameplay does unlock the purchasable content that is gameplay related, only cosmetics are truly locked behind purchases.
Good game, could use more of a tutorial
Tue Feb 07 2023 Navi_KingFrom the makers of Dungeon Maker comes another great game with a very different gameplay type, featuring more active gameplay. Also like Dungeon Maker though, there are a billion different stats and effects. Starting the game immediately takes you to the gameplay without explaining anything. Fortunately I muddled my way through to a victory first try, but people with less experience in games may struggle to understand what is happening. More tutorial info about items, rewards, and stats the first time through would be helpful, along with an encyclopedia for easy reference. Overall though, very good, definitely worth $5
5 star but
Wed Jul 12 2023 sage8473This game really needs a better tutorial and game term encyclopedia. It’s lots of fun and not to greedy but I’ve spent tons of resource’s on things I had know idea what they do cause the only way to figure it out is through trial and error. I’m a pretty experienced gamer so I had good guesses but 2 weeks in and there is still stuff I bought that I have no idea what it does. There are some resource resets that you can use but of course they cost more resource and I’m not even sure I want to reset them. This almost had me give a 4 star rating but then I realized I’m still playing the game. Lol so guess it’s still fun even fumbling through it.
Great start, needs work
Wed Oct 19 2022 Disgruntled Poster #7It’s a solid game concept using a lot of the same ideas from their previous games, but considering I enjoy their previous work, I happen to enjoy this, too. But, it’s not as ready as Dungeon Maker is for wider appeal. There’s no tutorial to explain what you’re doing or why, there’s not an easy way that I’ve found to check what your monsters’ skills do, except for when you’re picking them, the localization could use some work here and there, and the metaprogression elements could be a little more generous because right now they feel very stingy with post-run rewards. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid start, and I’ll certainly be sticking with it, but it needs more development before I’d call it complete.
A gem of a game - worth every penny
Sat Jul 01 2023 SirLoinSteaksThis game just rocks. These guys are the devs behind another amazing game, Dungeon Maker, and this one is just as good, if not better. Lots to upgrade, tons of action on the screen, and amazing art. I’m a huge fan of the more lewd designs (thank you from the bottom of my heart Devs), but I do get why it can be off putting to some.
Still, I think the fluidity of the gameplay and animations, as well as the upgrade choices, makes this an extremely engaging game with a ton of unlockables.
Fun but there’s room for improvement
Fri Mar 08 2024 That Superhuman GuyFirst off, be ready to lost your saves if the game closes. Between waves the game says it saves, so imagine my surprise when the app crashed and I had to restart the run from the beginning again.
Other than that, it’s a fun game though it would be nice to have an option to dial down the provocative images. Definitely worth the few dollars and maybe the season pass.
This is a bit like a tower defense mixed with roguelites, where you buff up after each wave/level and pick your power ups as the enemies try harder and harder to break through your defense (the guardians you start off with and expand on). You don’t get to place traps or units, though, so it’s more tapping the screen frantically to protect your base and take out the heroes attacking you.
Another con is there’s almost no explanation on how to play the game, so it’s definitely trial by fire. If you’ve played similar games, though, where you pick power ups as the run/exploration/etc., then you’ll likely get the hang of it.
A great game
Mon Feb 26 2024 abperpreThe price is settled around 24$ or something for all the quality-of-the-life purchases. It’s not much compared to gacha games and card games . 120$ to max out a character in gacha games is considered “cheap”, and usually it costs around 100$ to build a competitive deck in card games. I just quit both genres because the metas are too costly to catch up. Overall this game is not expensive, plus you support an indie company who will bring more good games in the future.
Fun Foundation but Needs Updates
Thu Oct 27 2022 I WAS BRIBEDA roguelike “arrow/ability” defense with a satisfying gameplay loop and plenty of customization/upgrades. Limiting the number of genesis stones/hero souls that can be earned (before metaprogression) is a bad mechanic as it can disincentivize finishing runs and the optimal way to grind is to quickly abandon after you hit 10 of each. If this game continues to receive updates like dungeon maker it is well worth the money.
No Explanations
Tue Aug 22 2023 JimmybangbangI want to like this game because the art is cool, but there are no tutorials, explanations, anything to help me understand the game. I have no idea what the mechanics of the game are, what each character does and what their theme is, or what I’m supposed to be working towards. Right now it feels like I can mess around in a sandbox, but there’s no cohesive “game” experience. I would urge potential buyers to wait for some updates to fix this before purchasing. Also everything is designed to encourage microtransactions. You have to pay the same cost as the game to get the 1.5x speed and autoplay functions!
Why isn’t this company more popular?!
Sun Mar 05 2023 Adjust DonutEach game they have released has been a blast to play and they really do deserve a bigger fan base and praise. I have spend hundreds of hours on their game Dungeon Maker only to get pulled into this one and both are well polished games with endless amount of ways to play! 👌 perfection with this company
