Our Site Score

89/100

Forever Lost: Episode 1 is a masterclass in atmospheric point-and-click horror. It doesn't rely on cheap jump scares; instead, it builds a sense of pervasive dread through its haunting environments and cryptic environmental storytelling. As a puzzle-adventure expert, I find the inclusion of the 'in-game camera' to be a stroke of genius. Being able to take photos of clues and scribble notes directly onto them removes the tedious 'back-and-forth' that plagues many other games in the genre.

The puzzles are challenging but fair, integrated naturally into the dilapidated asylum setting. The sound design—full of distant clangs and whispers—complements the grainy, detailed visuals perfectly. It feels like a modernized 'Myst' with a much darker, psychological edge. If you enjoy games that treat your intelligence with respect while keeping you on the edge of your seat, this is an essential experience.

Dinsun Review

Now this is more like it. I grew up on Myst and the classic Sierra adventures, and Forever Lost feels like a modern successor to those brain-teasers. The atmosphere is thick and unsettling without relying on cheap jump scares. It uses the first-person perspective to make you feel truly isolated and trapped.

The 'glitch camera' mechanic is a stroke of genius—being able to take in-game photos of clues so you don't have to carry a physical notebook is a perfect use of the mobile platform. The puzzles are logical but difficult; they actually make you stop and think. My only complaint is that it’s an 'episode,' meaning it’s a short experience that leaves you wanting more, but the quality of what’s here is undeniable. It's a somber, smart game for adults.
