I remember when the original Giana Sisters was pulled from shelves because it was too close to Mario. Now, it's back on phones, and frankly, I wish they'd put more effort into the 'feel' of the game. A platformer lives or dies by its controls, and virtual d-pads are a poor substitute for a joystick or a proper controller. I found myself missing jumps not because I was slow, but because the glass under my thumb doesn't provide the feedback a 40-year-old gamer expects.

The 'HD' graphics look a bit like generic flash art from the mid-2000s, which is a shame because the original pixel art had real character. The music is the saving grace here; Huelsbeck's themes still hold up. But as a game? It feels like a relic that hasn't been polished enough for the modern era. It’s playable, sure, but it’s not something I’d sit down with for more than ten minutes without getting frustrated by the input lag.
