Grid Guardians is a love letter to tactical RPG fans who want depth without a 40-hour time commitment. The 'digital virus' theme is executed perfectly through the neon-drenched visuals and a synth-heavy soundtrack that feels straight out of a 1980s hacking movie. The combat is tight; since every tile movement costs resources, you can't just rush in—you have to think three turns ahead.

The progression system is where the game really shines. Seeing your Guardians evolve from basic antivirus scripts into powerful system defenders is incredibly satisfying. It hits that sweet spot between 'easy to pick up' and 'punishing if you’re sloppy.' If you enjoyed games like Into the Breach, this will feel right at home on your phone.

I actually didn't hate this one. It has some real tactical meat on its bones. The turn-based combat is solid, and there’s enough variety in the heroes to allow for some decent strategy. However, it’s just so... generic. The heroes look like they were pulled from a 'Generic Fantasy Tropes' handbook, and the world-building is nonexistent. It’s like playing a board game without any of the fun social interaction. It’s a good distraction for fans of the genre, but it won't be replacing 'Fire Emblem' or 'Final Fantasy Tactics' on anyone's list of favorites. A solid 'C' effort.
