Guild of Dungeoneering in IOS

Our Expert Score

87/100

Guild of Dungeoneering flips the script on the dungeon crawler genre in the most charming way possible. Instead of controlling your hero, you are the architect of their doom—or their success. Drawing cards to build the dungeon around a hero who has a mind of his own is a brilliant mechanic. It feels like being a Dungeon Master where the player character is a particularly dim-witted but lovable 'Chump'.

The hand-drawn, 'pen and paper' art style is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly complements the game's self-aware humor. The bard's songs that narrate your failures are a highlight, turning every death into a comedic moment. While the card battles are relatively straightforward, the strategy involved in managing your guild and enticing your heroes with the right loot makes for a deeply addictive experience.

Watch out for Ice Cream Headaches! Our second Adventure Pack is now available as a FREE update!

Our second expansion pack, Ice Cream Headaches, is now available! Quest through the snowy mountains, visit the ice cream monks and battle all new monsters like the Slushie Elemental and the Pygmy Mammoth. With 21 new quests, 30 new monsters and 3 new classes, it’s our biggest expansion yet!

Ice Cream Headaches also introduces Favour, an all new gameplay mechanic which can aid in your quest’s success… or failure. Earn Favour by defeating monsters in rooms with a Rune of Fate, and spend your Favour to earn powerful card-manipulation effects. Use your Favour to draw extra cards in battle, or even remove weaker cards from your deck for the rest of the quest.

If you have previously beaten the game you should restart in one of your old save slots and take on the new region with a new save using the 'icecream shortcut' option.

We have also included some bug fixes & much improved memory usage to reduce crashes on some older devices.

Guild of Dungeoneering is a unique turn-based RPG with a twist: you don't control the hero; you build the world around them. Using a deck of cards, you strategically place rooms, traps, monsters, and treasures to guide your hero toward their goal. Meanwhile, the hero makes their own decisions about where to go and who to fight. Between dungeon runs, you manage your Guild, building new rooms to attract diverse classes of adventurers and expanding your deck with powerful items. With its distinctive pen-and-paper art style and hilarious musical narration, it's a roguelike like no other.
