Dinsun Review
I went into HeRoll expecting another generic RPG, but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of its dice mechanics. It clearly takes notes from 'Dicey Dungeons,' but it adds enough of its own flavor to stand on its own. The core loop of mitigating bad luck through clever gear choices is satisfying. For an older gamer who enjoys a slower, more tactical pace, this is one of the few mobile titles I’ve played recently that didn't feel like it was insulting my time.
The visuals are a bit budget-friendly, and the UI could use a second pass—some of the icons are too small for comfortable use on a phone—but the mechanical heart is solid. It’s a 'real' game that requires actual thought and planning. It’s not perfect, and the late-game balance feels a bit tilted towards 'perfect' runs, but for a mobile roguelike, it’s a breath of fresh air. I might actually keep this one on my phone for a while.
