Illusion Bowling is a trip. It’s rare to find a sports game that makes you question your own eyes, but this does exactly that. The way the lanes bend and twist based on your camera angle is reminiscent of games like 'Superliminal'.

It’s less about being a good bowler and more about being a good problem solver. You might see a 7-10 split that is physically impossible to hit, until you realize that if you roll the ball into a gravity well, it will wrap around the screen and hit the pins from behind. It’s a brilliant concept that is executed with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that keeps the focus on the mind-bending puzzles.

I don't know who decided that bowling needed to be 'confusing,' but they failed. Illusion Bowling takes a simple sport and ruins it with gimmicks. The 'illusions' aren't clever; they're just inconsistent physics masked by poor visual design. Half the time, the ball doesn't go where you aim because of some 'perspective shift' that feels more like a bug than a feature.

The controls are finicky, and the level design is just plain mean. It’s not a challenge of skill; it’s a challenge of trial and error. I grew up playing Wii Sports, and that was ten times more sophisticated than this. It’s a low-effort casual game trying to act smart, and I’m not buying it. Just go to a real bowling alley.

Illusion Bowling is all about rolling balls through a world of optical illusion. You have to hit a bowling pin with a ball but it is impossible in the normal world. Only by using new pathways that get created by optical illusions it becomes possible. Your tool for creating the optical illusion pathways is merely changing the view perspective. If two distant platforms look from a certain view angle as if they touch each other then the ball can roll over from one platform to the other, like over a virtual bridge. This way you can create virtual bridges, virtual walls or shift the ball sideways by scratching one platform over another.
