Now this is more like it. Imperial Settlers: Roll & Write actually respects the player’s intelligence. It’s a complex little engine builder that fits into a ten-minute session. The tutorial is excellent—it actually explains the mechanics rather than just pointing at buttons. The design is clean, the UI is functional, and there isn't a single ad in sight because the developer had the decency to charge a fair price upfront. I appreciate that more than I can say.
However, it’s not without its flaws. The progression in the adventure mode feels needlessly grindy. They’ve locked more than half the content behind a 'crown' system that requires you to play the same levels over and over to progress. It feels like they’re trying to stretch out the playtime artificially. For someone like me with limited free time, it’s a bit of a chore. If you can get past the grind, though, the core gameplay is rock solid and offers a lot of tactical depth for a mobile title.
