Cottage Garden is a beautiful digital translation of Uwe Rosenberg's beloved board game. It captures the 'puzzle-y' essence of gardening perfectly, where the primary challenge is spatial management. You aren't just planting flowers; you're playing a floral version of Tetris, trying to fit oddly shaped tiles into your garden beds while avoiding (or utilizing) flowerpots and garden cloches.

The digital implementation is top-tier, offering a smooth tutorial that makes the somewhat complex rules of the physical game easy to digest. The addition of 'helpful cats' adds a layer of adorable strategy—using a cat tile to fill that one annoying single-square gap is always a relief. Whether playing against the three different AI difficulties or jumping into a cross-platform ranked match, the game feels relaxed yet deeply competitive. It’s a rare 'non-violent' strategy game that manages to be just as cutthroat as any war simulator.

Dinsun Review

As a fan of Rosenberg’s physical board games, I appreciate the logic behind Cottage Garden, but this digital port feels a bit uninspired. The core gameplay—a Tetris-like spatial puzzle—is solid because the source material is good. However, the interface is cramped on anything smaller than an iPad, and the aesthetic feels a bit dated for a game about beautiful gardens. It’s functional, but it lacks the 'premium' feel that other board game ports managed to achieve.

My biggest gripe is the performance; I’ve encountered several freezes and UI glitches that forced a restart. For a game that is supposed to be relaxing, having the app lock up while you're calculating your final score is quite the opposite. It’s a decent enough way to play the game if you can’t get the physical version to the table, but the developers really need to iron out the bugs before I can give it a higher recommendation.

You will use a variety of plants — as well as flowerpots and garden cloches — to design gardens that bloom with diversity. Be kind to the helpful cats!

Goal of the Game - In Cottage Garden, you compete in the art of gardening. Plant two Flowerbeds with different flowers.
