Bowling games are a dime a dozen on the App Store. League Star Bowling positions itself as a more serious entry, eschewing the cartoonish power-ups found in other titles. For a guy like me who appreciates a straightforward simulation, that's a plus. The physics are mostly predictable, and once you master the flick of your thumb, you can start hunting for those consistent strikes.
However, the 'League' aspect feels a bit hollow. The social features and multiplayer components don't have the polish of a top-tier sports title. The graphics are undeniably stiff—the character models look like mannequins, and the environments lack life. It feels like a budget title from 2012 that somehow ended up in 2026. It's perfectly fine for a few frames while you're waiting for a doctor's appointment, but it won't be replacing any of the genre leaders on my home screen.
