I don't usually review 'apps,' but Wimbo leans heavily on gamification, so here we are. Itβs essentially Guitar Hero with a real instrument. As someone who appreciates the discipline of learning a skill, I find the instant feedback helpful. Itβs much better than just staring at a book. The note recognition is surprisingly accurate, even using just the iPad microphone.
My issue is the subscription model. I miss the days when you bought a piece of software and owned it. Paying every month for 'access' to songs feels like a scam. Also, it focuses too much on 'hitting the note' and not enough on technique, posture, or musicality. Itβll teach you how to play a melody, but it wonβt make you a pianist. Still, for a mobile tool, itβs one of the more productive things you can do with your screen time.
