Luxor: Amun Rising HD brings the classic marble-shooting action to the modern era with crisp Retina graphics and a wealth of content. The premise is simple but relentlessly engaging: you control a winged scarab at the bottom of the screen, firing colored orbs into a moving chain of marbles. Your goal is to match three colors to eliminate them before they reach the pyramid at the end of the track. It sounds easy, but as the chains speed up and the paths become more convoluted, it turns into a frantic test of reflexes and foresight.

This version is particularly impressive due to its customization and variety. With 88 levels and four distinct game modes—including the grueling Challenge of Horus—there is plenty to keep you occupied. The inclusion of power-ups like Fireballs and Lightning Bolts adds a layer of chaotic fun, allowing you to clear massive sections of the chain in a single spectacular blast. Whether you're playing a quick round in Practice mode or working through the long Adventure, the game's polished presentation and Egyptian-themed soundtrack create an immersive experience that is hard to put down.

If you’ve played Zuma, you’ve played Luxor. It’s a formula that has been around forever, and for good reason—it works. This HD version of Amun Rising is the best way to play it on a modern screen. The graphics are sharp, and the Egyptian theme is handled with just the right amount of arcade flair.

It’s a game of pure focus. You’re constantly scanning the line, planning your next two shots, and praying for a fireball power-up when things get crowded. It doesn't do anything new—literally, it’s a direct port of a years-old game—but it does it very well. I find it to be the perfect 'cooldown' game after a long day. It’s predictable, it’s polished, and it’s consistently challenging. It’s not going to win any awards for innovation, but as a marble shooter, it’s hard to beat. Just don't expect anything you haven't seen a thousand times before.
