I was skeptical. Every 'monster catcher' on mobile is usually a gacha nightmare. But Nexomon is a proper RPG. It follows the Pokémon blueprint almost to a fault, but the writing is actually sharper and more self-aware. The Nexomon designs are surprisingly good, and the difficulty is tuned a bit higher than the recent Nintendo outings, which I appreciate. It doesn't have the decades of history, but as a standalone game, it's a very solid achievement. Dinsun actually enjoyed this one, which says a lot.
