Wilderness Survival Adventure

Our Site Score

88/100

On My Own is a meditative yet brutal reminder of how difficult nature can be. Unlike many survival games that lean into horror or high-octane combat, this title captures the quiet loneliness and seasonal shifts of the wilderness. The pixel art is evocative, making the simple act of sitting by a campfire at night feel genuinely rewarding after a long day of checking traps and gathering wood.

The progression feels organic. You start by barely catching a rabbit, but as you craft better equipment and learn the biomes, you become a true woodsman. The balance between hunger, energy, and warmth is tight, requiring actual planning before you venture too far from your base camp. It’s a beautiful indie gem for those who prefer the 'man vs. nature' survival trope over zombies or monsters.

Dinsun Review

This isn't one of those 'zombie' survival games. It’s actually about nature, which I appreciate. You’re just a guy in the woods trying not to starve. The pixel art is charming and creates a nice atmosphere, especially when the seasons change. There’s a real satisfaction in finally figuring out how to successfully trap a rabbit or prepare for winter. It feels grounded.

However, it can be incredibly slow. Sometimes *too* slow. You’ll spend a lot of time just walking and waiting. The crafting menu is a bit cumbersome for mobile, and the game doesn't do a great job of explaining its deeper systems. It’s a game for patient people—maybe too patient for most. It’s a noble effort at a realistic survival sim, but it could use a bit more 'game' to fill the gaps between the chores of staying alive.
