Needs tunning
Wed May 03 2023 MemStarzAs a enjoyer of the version on pc I can say I didn’t expect the port but It feels like something that works for it, although you can tell how raw it is, being really obvious when you try to get the full game and it just removes the ability to get the full game. It really is just the same game on steam, and the port has some things that it could take from the dead cells port to mobile, like adjustable buttons and more customizable controls. All and all I feel like unlike dead cells this is a good game to port to mobile because of its less fast pace gameplay, but still making a requirement for being well timed. I will try to remind myself to give it a 5/5 stars if it gets a update to tune some of the obvious bugs and tune up the interfaces, but right now I think that it has potential.
Just a couple ideas to better the controls, though this is just on the spot
*aiming*
Add buttons to change the angle of the shot, and customizable sensitivity to adjust how fast the angle changes
Joystick
Lock and load, or more or less select a target and press something to fire the shot to assure the user that the ball goes where they want
*etc*
Maybe make a portrait style viewing mode so that all the balls and options are below, but the gameplay is on the top, and make it so shooting the ball only worked by touching a part of the screen so that the trash button wouldn’t be so easy to press accidentally
Very fun, very replayable
Sat Feb 01 2025 Bcam1001I’ve really enjoyed Peglin, the game gives you a lot of variety for how you want to approach things - and the random events can keep things fresh by giving you more fights or items that help. Trying to unlock the other characters was actually fun rather than tedious since it encourages you to try different playstyles.
Try the free trial and see what you think - I paid the $10 for the full game and with the four characters plus the added challenge given each successful run with a character - I am overall very happy with this game - would love to see updates with more orbs in the future but I also understand it’s a one time payment game. Which is also the reason I support the developer. You pay $10 once and that’s it - no micro-transactions, no spamming of ads even if you don’t buy the full game - great jobs guys, this game has a ton of charm to it and is a ton of fun to play - between this game and balatro, there does exist such a thing as fun and “worth it” paid mobile games
Yes, it’s a free to TRY but PREMIUM game.
Mon May 08 2023 YoshinarutoJust writing a review to counter all of the people (mostly kids) complaining that the game isn’t free. There are multiple games on the App Store where you have to unlock the full game by paying, or in some cases having a Netflix subscription, this isn’t anything new.
The sad part is, I think this is the best possible format for premium games. You get to try it for free, and if you don’t enjoy it, at least you didn’t have to shell out any money for it. There’s a lot of entitled people who didn’t read the in app purchase section, and thought the full game was free. This is a port of a full fledged PC game. Very rarely is that going to be completely free.
Apple should really make a category for games that have a one time purchase to unlock the full game, and make it so that people can’t review those types of games without purchasing them first. Otherwise they get review bombed like this one, even though their model is arguably the most fair way out there and should be praised for it, not ridiculed.
I adore this game but it has some issues to iron out
Sun Apr 30 2023 BaconG3288Game itself 5/5 its fun and simple enough to play anywhere when needed and worth the price for the full game but I have a few issues 1 of which might just be a me thing but I will include it :1: (Me thing) Some of the boards feel like their special little designs don't make for enjoyable boards most notably to me one of the Red Skull encounters in Area 3 with the 4 black holes at the top I feel like my orbs don't have enough power to reach the higher pegs once the lower half is almost gone so I just waste shots and the mini boss just gets lots free hits when I can't do much back :2: The item which limits your shots to four directions doesn't work and only shoots to the bottom right :3: I wish there was a way to see what the effects from orbs do before you purchase them
But other than that great game and hope they continue to work on it and possible implement new stuff in future
Great game on PC, OK game on Mobile
Sun Aug 27 2023 RickyFish89I've been playing this on steam for a long time and so happy to have it on the app store. Works great on mac, and no real complaints on ipad either, but for phones I REALLY would have preferred more effort into making things work for mobile, like moving on-screen elements around to make portrait orientation work (e.g. fight on top, upcoming orbs horizontal below that, pegboard below that, fire button below that)... This is a GREAT game for jumping into for a few minutes at a time and can is something you can easily be interrupted during and come back to without issue. Unfortunately the phone port doesn't do enough to highlight that easy to pick up and put down characteristic. It's simply the PC version on a much smaller screen. Great game, plays well enough, but wish they'd have done more specifically for phones.
Very Novel Concept
Thu May 01 2025 GamecubekevI’ve played peg destroying games in the past, and I have to say this concept of adding roguelike elements and build only seems natural. It’s super fun to try out custom builds, which is exactly what you want to see in a game advertising roguelike mechanics. I also have to give massive credit to the monetization. The game didn’t throw ads in my face between every match like other peg games. It lets you play the entire first level, with different bosses, all for free so you can definitely get a feel for the game and hook you on the mechanics. Definitely has some really satisfying gameplay. When a big number pops up for damage it’s awesome. The only thing I found confusing was certain values like “upgrades ball by 1/1” and the mechanic of being able to tap the enemies to switch targets. A few things can be unclear, but it’s easier to understand after reading the encirclepedia in game.
Really good
Sun Aug 10 2025 hydrax.I love this game. Even though I haven’t even purchased the game it’s still great. I was on vacation without WiFi and this game provided many hours of fun. A lot of people are writing one star reviews and saying things about how there is a paywall and no mention of it and how it’s overpriced for a mobile game. There is mention of a paywall (in recent versions I think) and many PC games are being moved to mobile in a similar fashion. And Peglin is not a mobile game, it was originally made for PC. 10$ for a steam game is quite reasonable. Others say it’s an outright knockoff of Peggle. But that’s not true, the game just takes inspiration from it. That’s something that lots of games do. I would recommend the game and even if you don’t want to buy it, that’s fine. It has a lot of fun in the trial.
Gotta love Peglin
Thu Jan 23 2025 25-Point Shot!I personally believe Peglin is a fun game. It’s an rng based game where you’re either prepared or you’re not. I personally find this game fun, and only really get upset with it because my luck is absolutely awful. However, this review ISN’T a list of meaningless complaints about the game requiring a cost, nor is it a long time-wasting rant about the game being bad because of my skill issue. It’s a simple request to… fix the gravity. You see, I personally believe that the gravity can be a bit too bouncy. Your orb hits a single peg, and it’ll fly straight to the end of the board, not hitting anything else and wasting a turn. This might just be another skill issue for me, but this issue has popped up several times. If you made the pegs a little less bouncy so the orbs don’t just sail offscreen, then I’d be happy.
A sorta-fun indie that isn’t worth $10
Sun May 18 2025 Liam73927Peglin is fun for short bursts, unfortunately it’s being sold at a higher price than deserved with the current content level. I wouldn’t pay over $3.99 for this retrospectively. Not because games shouldn’t be profitable, but because this is a poor phone port. - Phone screen space optimization is poor, many text or UI elements are far too small to read leaving you guessing. - The game doesn’t explain basic gameplay mechanics to you or define effects. This causes the player to feel cheated or confused when things work unexpectedly. - The replayability (something very important for rougelites and mobile games alike) is notably low with you being able to “beat” the game and use most types of orbs within just an hour. - The game feels unrewarding and there’s very little meta-progression in what otherwise seems to be a rougelite.
Ignore the low scores.
Mon May 08 2023 MushaAlesteThis a premium game. An outstanding rougelike that incorporates 2d platforming with pachinko like mechanic. The controls are tight. The game loop is addicting. Music and graphics are retro goodness. It is getting rave reviews on just about every platform.
Please support developers like this. Review bombing a game because you are not bright enough to realize you need to pay to unlock the full game is entitlement at its peak. People who leave reviews like this is why mobile gaming is predatory and full of pay to win freemium nonsense. You get what you pay for.
Apple needs to remove reviews complaining about pricing. Every time we get a premium game someone comes on here and writes about it should be free or is too expensive. We normally get ports at a nice discount. Please stop.
