Retro Highway is a competent tribute to the arcade racers I spent my youth playing. The 'blast processing' aesthetic is spot on, and the 60 FPS gameplay makes the sense of speed feel genuine. It’s pure, unadulterated dodging and weaving. The challenge is there—one wrong move and you're a pixelated mess on the pavement.
But once the initial wave of nostalgia washes over you, the cracks start to show. It’s essentially an endless runner on wheels. The unlockable bikes provide some variety, but the core gameplay loop doesn't evolve. I appreciate the lack of complex fluff, but for a modern title, it feels a bit thin. It captures the spirit of the 80s, including the part where you eventually get bored and look for a game with more than one trick.
