It takes everything that made the original great—the squishy movement, the clever level design, and the charming pixel art—and dials it up to eleven. Playing as a blob of slime feels unique; you aren't just jumping, you're stretching, shrinking, and squeezing through gaps that would stop any other hero.

The addition of new elements like the tongue mechanic and more complex environmental puzzles keeps the gameplay fresh throughout. The physics engine is remarkably consistent, which is vital for a game where your character’s shape is constantly changing. It’s challenging but fair, and the secret floppy disks hidden in each level provide a great incentive to master the controls and explore every nook and cranny of the lab.

I’m a sucker for a well-made platformer, and Slime Labs 2 is a pleasant surprise. The physics of the slime are handled brilliantly—it feels heavy, sticky, and malleable in all the right ways. It reminds me of the better 16-bit era games, where the mechanics were simple but the level design was king. The pixel art is crisp and nostalgic without feeling lazy.

It’s a bit on the short side, and some of the later puzzles rely more on trial-and-error than I’d like. Touch controls for precise platforming are always a compromise, but they’ve done a decent job here. It’s a 'small' game, but it has more heart than 90% of the top-grossing charts. If you have any fondness for the genre, this is a rare mobile gem that actually feels like a labor of love rather than a cash grab.
