Shovel Pirate is a delightful throwback to the 8-bit platforming era. It reminds me a lot of 'DuckTales' or 'Shovel Knight' in the best way possible. The core mechanic—using your shovel to jump, dig, and fight—is simple but used in really creative ways across the 15 levels. It’s a short game, but it’s packed with secrets and 'Aha!' moments.

The controls are tight, which is vital for a mobile platformer. I never felt like a death was the fault of the touchscreen. Finding all the hidden gems is where the real challenge lies, and it gives the game a nice 'completionist' feel. If you’re looking for a charming, well-made adventure that you can finish in an afternoon, Shovel Pirate is a treasure.
