★★★★★ 10/10
Sun Oct 26 2025 Lny_BugNothing is wrong with this game. Music, perfect. Voices, perfect. Art, perfect. The plot is fantastic, and I didn’t expect it AT ALL. I need a sequel. Maybe where they find where Penelope went, or find the missing five. Maybe even capture the mystids that got loose.
This is me, two years later. I played the demo for The Mermaid Mask, which is the sequel, and I’m already loving it. The characters have the same vibe, ( Sally still is my favorite ), and I love the 3D interaction with clues that wasn’t there in TT. I really hope this game comes out soon so I can play it for three days straight. Also, at the end of the demo, I tried to leave the room, and Grimoire said “it seems we can’t leave this room, it’s the end of the demo”. Made me chuckle, it was a good time to break the fourth wall.
★★★★★ Worth the Journey
Sat Nov 29 2025 Blue SkyeThe art, investigation and world-building is what I was incredibly happy to spend my money on. There were so many amazing points in the story that when I realized the game was wrapping up, I was shocked - a bunch of small plot threads were left hanging and I was left feeling disappointed with how rushed it was and the confession felt more like an info dump that didn’t really answer the questions I wanted to know the answers to the most.
SPOILER QUESTIONS: What was with the love triangle? And the weird rose petal note? All we got was that it was a red herring in the gallery notes, but why? Where did the red “paint” originate from? What was up with the three sets of notes/symbols? Why was the feather in the incinerator? What was up with the broken bars in the roof garden? Why were the Hawkshaw drawings and the photo of Freya’s painting in her room? What was even up with that painting? Who left that clue in the garden? I probably have 20 more questions tbh.
★★★★★ Fun game
Sat Jan 18 2025 confused_pufferfishFor anyone interested in play-time-to-price ratio, this game took me maybe 4-5 hours to complete (and I spent a lot of time messing around, clicking everything in all the rooms, and asking all the suspects about every clue). It was super fun and I enjoyed playing through all the unique rooms and I liked the voice acting for the characters. (The music was incredible!) A lot of reviews say the end is a little rushed, but I liked it all right (I felt that it needed to pick up a little speed at the end). Plenty of fun puzzles and things to click on to get dialogue between Grimoire and Sally. It’s a nice murder mystery that plays a bit like a movie (there is one ending that you will reach).
★★★★★ A fun adventure, with a story that doesn’t make sense.
Thu Oct 12 2023 JDny80This is a great adventure game, the writing is really good, the music and settings are interesting, and it’s pretty funny at some points too. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the solution to the mystery- after all the careful world building, the ending seemed contrived, forced, and a little ridiculous. The way they crammed a bunch of totally new lore into the last 15 mins of the game after the player had ‘solved’ the mystery in order to attempt to make the convoluted ending fit with the rest of the story felt really clumsy to me. I say that only because everything else was done so well, that it caught me off guard how inelegant the ending was. Despite that, I still thoroughly enjoyed the game and would recommend it to fans of adventure and mystery games.
★★★★★ Artfully Done
Sat May 04 2024 LegottiI’d like to request the creators expand into audio dramas with these characters between games, given the lengthy development - I would buy some easier to produce adventures with these characters.
To the game, I’ll echo the common complaint that the ending is super rushed, and I wish they’d just insert another act before it to bridge the gap. But it’s so fantastically presented I recommend the journey anyway, and hopefully the next grimoire mystery will be paced a bit better - hurried or unexplained plot threads are the only flaw. The art music dialog and performance are superlative. Eager for more.
★★★★★ A suspiciously good game
Fri Jun 27 2025 Jack butler 🎩A wonderfully made game with beautiful art great voice actors and amazing story it’s a mystery about a murder you will encounter many interesting people and solve puzzles and find out who has killed Freya Fellow it took some real Witts to find out some of these puzzles every conversation with these characters is either pure joy or great suspicion. A few people say that the end raps a little too quick but I think that it ended perfectly and wasn’t too quick great game $5 well spent.
★★★★★ So unique and amazing!
Tue Jul 01 2025 day.__dreamerI love all of the puzzles (they’re just the right amount between moderate easy — bit challenging) as well as the art style and storyline. The voice acting is so awesome and well done! The mechanics of the game runs so smoothly it makes it so enjoyable to play! Playing this game the first time definitely made me crave for more! I got secrets of the swamp (also a fantastic game) and cannot wait for more soon with Detective Grimoire and Sally! Big thank you to everyone in these projects :)
★★★★★ THANK YOU SFB GAMES!
Sun Aug 10 2025 FriendOfALoafI LOVE the Detective Grimore series! Part of my childhood. The wonderful story, art and nostalgic music make it my favorite game series of all time. I don’t wanna hurry the developers, but please finish the third game in the series, I am eager to play it! I also love nautical themes as that seems to be the style of the new game. I got a friend to play it and most of my family, and of course I’ve also played secret of the swamp. This is the first comment I’ve ever wrote, I certainly wanna dedicate it to my favorite game.
