Unpacking is a zen-like puzzle game that tells a beautiful, wordless story through the simple act of moving house. You follow a character's life from childhood to adulthood, and each level consists of opening boxes and finding a place for their belongings in a new room. There are no timers, no scores, and no 'game over' screens. It is pure, meditative organization.
The genius of Unpacking lies in its environmental storytelling. You learn about the protagonist's hobbies, their relationships, and their career changes just by looking at what they keep and what they leave behind. Seeing a familiar stuffed animal follow them from a dorm room to their first apartment is surprisingly emotional. The pixel art is incredibly detailed, and the foley work—the sound of a book hitting a wooden shelf versus a plastic cup hitting a counter—is some of the best in the industry. It’s a short experience, but one that leaves a lasting impression on your heart. It’s the perfect game for a quiet evening.

It typically takes 3-4 hours to complete the story, but it is highly replayable for its relaxing atmosphere.
