Wayward Souls is a brutal, uncompromising love letter to the 16-bit action-RPG era. In a mobile market saturated with 'auto-play' grinders, this game demands genuine skill and respect. It’s a roguelike where every room feels like a tactical challenge; you have to manage your limited stamina, use your abilities at the exact right moment, and learn the specific telegraphs of every enemy.
The six different characters are masterfully balanced, each offering a fundamentally different way to play. The Mage feels like a delicate glass cannon, while the Warrior is all about aggressive crowd control. The pixel art is dense and moody, and the lighting effects create a sense of dread that perfectly fits the 'Souls' inspiration. It’s incredibly difficult, yes, but the sense of achievement you feel when you finally clear a floor is unmatched. This is a must-have for anyone who wants a 'real' game on their phone that respects their intelligence and reflexes.
