Whirly Word is the kind of game your uncle plays on his iPad during a flight. It’s a pure test of vocabulary, stripped of any personality or creative flair. You get six letters, you find the words. It’s an ancient formula that hasn't changed since the days of newspaper puzzles. While there's a certain satisfaction in clearing a board, the lack of any meaningful progression or visual reward makes it feel more like homework than entertainment.

The dictionary is mostly accurate, though you'll occasionally run into obscure words that feel like padding. The interface is purely functional—white text on a black background. It’s efficient, sure, but it’s also incredibly dull. If you're a logophile, you might get some mileage out of it, but as a gamer, I find the lack of effort in presentation offensive. It does exactly what it says on the tin, but the tin is rusted and boring.
