Hooked, then betrayed lol
Thu Oct 23 2025 LaaraDOkay, first of all — this is my first ever app review for a mobile game, so that should tell you something. I downloaded Wool Craze about a week ago and have been playing it every. single. day. Just checked my screen time and apparently my daily average is 3 hrs and 48 mins. THREE HOURS. A DAY. And I just hit level 18 lol, ridiculous.
Anyway, I finally saved up 190 coins to add another box and then boom, I lost the level. In my mind I was like “that’s okay, we have one more box, it’s gonna be easier, let’s do this.” So I went back to replay the level and the box was GONE! If I would’ve known it was a one time use, I definitely would’ve taken the level more seriously or I wouldn’t have spent my coins on it! So yeah, now that I know I only get two boxes for the entirety of the game unless I keep spending 190 coins or watch an ad every single time, I think this is where my Wool Craze era ends.
Still, super fun and way too addicting. I might redownload in the future if they ever change it so you can actually keep the boxes you paid coins for.
Can’t save progress. Levels impossible. Don’t download this game.
Tue Sep 16 2025 AllisonkathDo not download this game. This game is so frustrating. It doesn’t let you save your progress. You could do something as simple as get a text message, navigate to your text messages to see what it says, and then in the 32 seconds if that took, by the time you get back to the game it completely starts you over on that level It’s mind numbingly frustrating. Especially because practically every level is impossible to beat without watching a million commercials to finish the level. I’m going to download a different yarn game because it’s just not worth it. This one is too frustrating. Nobody wants to spend 30 minutes on a level only to have to start ALL over again because you got a freakin’ phone call and the game decided that it couldn’t possibly allow you to do that and maintain your progress 😡🙄 don’t download this game unless you like playing the same levels over and over again because you got a phone call while you were playing it. Not to mention that the levels are literally impossible to be without power ups. And every power up requires you to watch a 60 to 120 second ad, and you’ll do that, and immediately have to do it again because the game is impossible to beat without watching ads over and over again. I have literally spent an hour on a single level because of how many advertisements I had to watch to beat it.
Miserable W/ Ads
Sun Nov 02 2025 passion-islifeI like the game itself, but this game is MISERABLE to play. I refuse to pay for power ups and you don’t win them very often, so you can watch an ad. Once you get to level 20+ I feel like it’s intentionally difficult that you can’t beat it without power ups. Last night it took 40+ minutes to get through one level purely because of watching ads for power ups. I thought it was a fluke or I really picked the wrong route for colors but this keeps happening. So I finally deleted it today. I have no idea how it has such good reviews. I guess from other people willing to make in app purchases? You’d have to drop a chunk of money (for a game that is), to make it enjoyable—to the extent that it feels unethical. I know developers have to make money, and if I find that I really love a game, I might occasionally make a purchase, but dang. This one is just irritating, and I SWEAR the ad times are longer to get through. Anyway, if you don’t mind dropping a bunch of money you’ll like it.
Oh also? It made me mad that if you close the app, it DOESNT SAVE YOUR PLACE. 🙃 so you have to start your level over and rewatch ads for the power ups you got previously. So it’s truly not even fun. I don’t get why people are giving it 4-5 star reviews while also complaining about the same things I’m saying.
Fun game, god awful execution
Wed Jul 09 2025 sjugiwbcoaoiebsvxFun game but it has way too many issues and I will be deleting it. First the colors are way too similar to each other and its made me lose a level several times. Second the auto zoom out is incredibly irritating. When it zooms out its too small for me to comfortably click colors and I sometimes end up clicking the wrong color but when I zoom in, it automatically zooms me out every few seconds and there is no way to turn it off. My biggest complain is the game constantly asks for colors that are no available which would be fine if there was a way to see the colors underneath the other ones because it would make for some strategy but you can’t see those colors so you just have to blindly guess until you find the right ones. This means I have to watch ads on almost every level and I’m not talking I made a mistake and have to watch one or two to get back on track. I mean i have to watch easily 7+ ads to get through a level, each ad is ridiculously long, and on top of that the game has the audacity to give you ANOTHER ad when you finally beat the level. Seriously, how many ads am I going to have to watch for it to be enough money for you? Stop making levels intentionally impossible, it ruins the game. I will be deleting it now.
Ad crazy
Fri Jul 11 2025 Keyonna HartwickThe game itself would be fun if there wasn’t multiple factors making it unbearable to play. The levels are extremely hard, like EXTREMELY hard. You only get two spots to match three colors of wool. 4 spots for extra yarn to go that don’t match the two spots for the matches to go. You can’t see what color is under the layer you’re choosing. So after you get past the first couple matches, you’ll have 15 or more of ONE color and have to guess where the color you need is, leading to you filling the space for extra unmatched wool to go. Even when you watch two ads to get the other two places for matches, you still end up running out of space for unmatched wool to go. Then guess what? Gotta watch more ads to keep reviving yourself.
Either the game wasn’t well thought out, or it was just made to generate TONS of ad revenue. Pretty sure you’d just make more money on ad revenue if you made the game actually fun to play. Also if you look through the reviews, most of them seem to be paid reviews. One review was saying how good the game is and how it works, then proceeded to say “if the game is not like this, then i’ll change my review.” 😂😂😂 This review is also in the top 5 that’s shown when you look at the game on the app store. Coincidence? I think not.
Uninstalled, byeeeeee.
Unnecessary ads & luck based
Fri Oct 31 2025 CheesyMaryThe game is fun and original which is why it caught my attention, however as i continued to play, multiple things began to make the experience less interesting. The game feels purely luck based and not skill based. You're tapping on wool hoping that the layer of wool underneath is a specific color and as far as i've seen, it seems almost random which color the layer underneath is. The second level with the cake forced me to have to use the ads three times and it felt like a tutorial on how to use ads on the game. I also feel as if the ads to gain more wheel wools to complete more colors feel unnecessary. I'd have preferred it if the ads you watch for those wheels made the wheels permanent and not have to end up with two again in the next level. I understand that ad revenue is one of the ways the game can make money, so i propose instead that various power ups be used instead and to get these power ups, ads can be watched, for example like using ads to receive extra pegs to save wool around. Same for the coin system. Use a system where ads give you more coins. Or watching an ad can clear out a color. But it'd be preferable for the four wool wheels to be permanent.
Rewards a challenge seeker!
Mon Jul 21 2025 HopHoppipThis game seems like any other puzzle game at first glance, but it really surprised me. It has way less ads than most free mobile games, only playing one after you beat a level, but you can also watch ads to get more pegs, power ups, revives, and extra coins. The trick lies in the fact that, to entice you to watch more ads, every level after the first is VERY difficult. The peg boards are rigged so that you’ll rarely get pegs for the most common color, often forcing you to waste your extra pegs unraveling that color in search of rarer ones. Out of spite, I decided to play without watching any ads, and I’ve had a blast so far. The challenge makes it fun and gets you hooked, and since it usually takes ten or more tries to win, the ads are very spaced out. Add in the satisfying gameplay, cool level designs, and refined controls that make it hard to misclick, and you’ve got a hidden gem of a game. I recommend it if you’re looking for a puzzle game that won’t get stale.
Fun concept, but too many ads and visual flaws
Thu Jul 31 2025 rob.the.godessThe game is fun and keeps your attention, but it has some frustrating design choices. There are too many ads, you have to watch several just to get through even the “easy” levels. The color palette is also problematic, with OVERLY similar shades of red, brown, and blue. This makes it hard to distinguish between pieces, especially for players with visual impairments or color blindness.
One major gameplay issue is the storage system. There are five storage slots, but the game ends as soon as all five are full. It would make more sense if the game only ended when you actually needed a sixth slot and had no room left, rather than ending the moment the fifth is used. That way a gamer has the option to buy an additional slot for it or just lose vs losing once all 5 are filled.
Overall, the game has potential, but between the aggressive ad model and visual and gameplay issues, I ended up uninstalling. Winning without watching ads or paying feels nearly impossible, especially when some selected colors aren’t even clearly visible in the puzzle.
