I’m tired of the thousands of Scrabble and Wordle clones, so Word Laces was a pleasant surprise. It’s more about association than just spelling, which requires a different part of the brain. The 'lacing' mechanic is simple but feels good—it’s the kind of small design detail that makes a game stand out.
The puzzles are well-designed; they rarely feel unfair, though some of the 'themes' are a bit of a stretch. It’s the perfect game for a 40-year-old to play over breakfast. It’s quiet, it’s thoughtful, and it doesn't try to yell at you with ads every five seconds. My only complaint is that I wish there were more levels; I blew through the first hundred faster than I expected. It’s a class act in a genre that's usually full of garbage.
