Fun story and game
Mon May 20 2024 Yay, I'm a llama! This is a fun game and a nice way to spend some time. The illustrations are very good and the story is engaging. The options for customizing the gardens are really cool, I hope it will be possible to make some wild areas in the future versus being all formal. I like the additional stories you can do now. There are good side games as well, to keep things interesting and earn coins or stars. The developers did a good job adding more variety to the daily Top Cat game, it was repeating often and they’ve added more layouts (thank you!). I love the cat path game Dawn Patrol. One thing I wish it didn’t have, and this is a super small detail, is characters clapping when a task or item is completed. This reminds me of a certain other gardening game which has a really creepy guy. Simon is much more wholesome and shouldn’t need that cheesy gimmick. UPDATE: I love the weekly throwback videos! And I love that some animals from the story stay visible in the gardens once the story is complete. I keep checking the trees for owls and the dens for other creatures, just in case you add any. :) ALSO, can you make an “endless” game where there’s no time limit, you just try to get the highest score for as long as you are willing to play? Would be so fun! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall the game is one of the brightest stars in Apple Arcade and something other developers should aspire to!
A fun game for a change! Highly recommend
Wed Aug 18 2021 GritsgalI finally found a game I love. I like to play this type of game but usually give up or I get bored. This has a cute and interesting storyline that makes you interested in the end which of course you continue on to do so. In all the games I’ve played, this is the first I actually stayed with long enough that I came to the end. I wrote asking you about it and you assured me there would be more in the future and you have just updated and added in the sketches and building the ideas he comes up with and so far I’m enjoying but hope there will be more. I want to thank you for something else too. You have scenes that are difficult and have to have a certain amount of money or what have you to pass if you can’t cypher or beat using strategy. Thankfully you didn’t build in that we couldn’t beat it if we tried enough. In other words you didn’t make it impossible to continue on for those who don’t have excess mad money to spend on games or have to be a computer expert. I thank you for that because I was there now and then. Other games were never fun or interesting enough for me to try so hard, so often for so long. Thanks. Keep up the good work and add more chapters or a new game using the same ideas. I highly recommend.
Best Game of its Genre.
Fri Oct 21 2022 DMR10I have always had a love hate relationship with these types of games, because they always lure you in by making it really easy for the first ten or so puzzles, then make it more and more difficult until you have no choice BUT to spend real money to buy items to help you complete the levels. The beauty of this game is it has NONE of that. Sure, you can buy items if you want, but the game has been designed that if you fail enough times, it will make the level passable by giving you advantages from the gate, or by making combos more easy to achieve. On top of that, they have a mini game that basically is just hide and seek looking for gnomes, and each one gives money…with a good amount of boosts given at the end of each chapter. I am currently at 524 and while the story was cute, it’s really the puzzle mechanics in this game that keep me coming back along with the high quality graphics.
Side games are buggy.
Tue May 09 2023 CJ WolfeThe game itself, and the various chaptered stories the developer has added in the last year or so are cute, and function as they should. The challenges that run with the story progression and the 3000 plus levels work as expected. However, the ‘Top Cat’ game is incredibly buggy, as it relies on Apple’s leaderboard system, which has well-known problems. Players are often shown the wrong reward icon for their high score, or receive a much lower reward even if they earn a spot in the top ten. Either the leaderboard system can’t keep up with the ‘battle royale’ structure of the Top Cat game, and players are shown an ‘old’ score rather than a current ranking because something gets ‘stuck’ on the back end, or the programming itself for this particular part of Apple’s leaderboard system is broken. Why bother playing for a gold chest when at best, you’ll get a reward two tiers down, even if the leaderboard says your rank is high enough for the top prize? After one runs out of regular game levels, Top Cat is the only way to earn enough coin to play Midnight Feast for long enough to accumulate treat pieces. This needs work, and per a Reddit thread detailing the problem, the solution has to come from Apple, not Tactile Games. They have no control over the leaderboard system.
Update: can’t progress past lvl 6:9
Thu Jan 25 2024 KidgettUpdate: items and progress are still lost sometimes when reentering game, and now I can’t progress past lvl 6:9 because it says downloading 1/13’ then ‘unable to download’. My internet connection is fine and very fast. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times, deleted all my saved files and started over 5 times. This game is absolutely riddled with bugs. I give up. It’s unplayable and too frustrating. I love Simon’s Cat! It’s fun and cute, and all the extra puzzles and challenges keep it fresh and interesting. I also love the lack of ads, so I can just enjoy the game with no frustrating interruptions. This is my favourite app on my phone by far. The crashes have been fixed – thank you! – but the other bugs are still there which make the game quite frustrating. When switching to other apps (like to check messages), and often when closing and reopening the game, progress and items can be lost. It doesn’t happen every time, but often enough. I’ve lost all starts and all items multiple times. I’ve reinstalled and started several new games, but it keeps happening. I’m deleting the game now because I after many hours and accumulating a couple dozen each of the bonuses and items, today they’re gone again. It’s just too disheartening.
It’s Simon’s Cat
Wed Apr 28 2021 Pa1pa1Extra star for being Simon’s Cat. The game was cute and I love matching/popping games, but seriously, when I saw this game I was expecting more. Some of the mechanics are tedious (having to generate bubbles/dandilions, beat the spreading grass, sometimes at the same time, breaking rocks, etc), and in most cases can’t be beaten without generating the required powerups—which if you run out of moves before that happens, tough luck. I’m glad there wasn’t an energy bar of some kind to have to worry about, but the fact that I’m limited by the number of moves really did take some of the enjoyment out of it. Plus, the fact that there’s over 500 levels just to finish the story… It would have been nice to have some different kinds of mini-games, memory matching or just some old-fashioned bejeweled type levels or something more in keeping with the Simon’s Cat theme.
The game also loses a star because I got to the end and am at 22/23 stars and the game insists I’ve done all the levels so I can’t play the last scene. Not sure what to do about that, as it keeps trying to take me to the current event.
Lovely Game in The beginning
Sat May 15 2021 tjyfjyfgjfnhfI absolutely love this game, And I’ve throughly enjoyed the beginning of the game but as you progress the levels get much harder and it becomes more a chore than a fun time and the harder levels you do still only give you one star, I believe if you added the ability to gain more than one star on the levels it would make for a more enjoyable experience and make it a game you want to finish for fun and not as a chore or a tedious task.I’ve found the levels I play now take at least 10 or more try’s to beat for only one star and it’s not worth going through all that frustration for only one star. it makes me not want to continue playing the game it’s just not worth the effort. You could also just make the more challenging levels optional so you can continue the game with wanting to throw ur device out the window because the game didn’t give you anything to work with. This is by far one of the most frustrating games I play that I love so much, the story is great and it’s a really cute game but the levels are so tedious and frustrating it’s not worth playing the game anymore or finishing the story.
Freaking Addicting Match-3 Game with ZERO In-App Purchases!! :)
Tue Jul 18 2023 tmck18For me, this game is worth the Apple Arcade subscription all on its own. It’s fun, engaging, has all the events, challenges and rewards you want in a Match-3 with none of the In-App purchasing hoopla you always have to deal with in similar games. Plus it has great art graphics, cute characters, a fun story, and you get to decorate gardens. I have yet to find any bugs or annoyances and I’m on level 100 as of writing this. I’d recommend this game to anyone who loves puzzle games. But be warned…it IS very addicting! You might find yourself playing until the wee hours of the morning. Don’t say you weren’t warned! ;)
Note: The only thing (so far) that I would add to the game is the ability to personally name all the animals, and have those names added into the story. I’ve seen that kind of feature in other games and really liked it.
Fun and long story, but needs some tweaks
Sat Feb 26 2022 hungovermonkeyLots of things to like about this game, but too much luck involved to meet requirements and get first round achievement bonuses. Simple drop down match game, rewards for completing levels in first try, requires game to drop correct colors or boosters. Sometimes you just have to play through each level until game provides way to win. Skill involved,in some cases but getting the right color drops is luck, not strategy.
Would be better if arrow boosters could be selected to run vertically or horizontally, but just seems to be random. Story drags on about 30 levels too long to really keep my attention. Finished just to see how it ends, but was a slog getting the stars to complete. Fix a few boosters and get story finished by reducing stars required to move story along and I would give this 5 stars
Mixed feelings
Fri Apr 30 2021 PurplePegaI enjoy this game... the graphics are fun, and for the most part there's an interesting storyline (albeit a bit obvious for an adult player) and fun mechanics. There are a few things that get on my nerves, though: 1. The music is incredibly monotonous, and doesn't change at all when you're low on lives or get a huge combo. In fact, there seems to be just one short track on endless loop. 2. A lot of the later levels come down to straight RNG for the crazy combos you need to finish the objectives in the allotted moves. 3. The game ends in a leaderboard-style challenge that allows you to use the boosts and coins you gathered, but there's *no way to farm more* other than the very small daily bonus. As such, the leaderboard "Midnight Feast" challenge feels almost entirely RNG dependent. There are two achievements linked to scoring very high in it, which makes it frustrating to complete all the achievements.
