Glitchy and laggy, but overall a great experience
Mon Nov 30 2020 UnderRose1302The game so far is overall amazing! I love the scenery, the combat, the mechanics. It’s all great!! There’s a couple problems where the fps will suddenly drop really low. Another big problem is that my game continuously crashes during the cutscene after beating the second boss. No matter how many time I try, it always crashes and I can’t move on. When I reopen the game, it’s back to before I beat the boss. This may just be because I have an iPhone 8, but I’m not sure. I think there should be a way to either skip the scenes or to make it so that if you beat the boss, it saves right after. That way, if it does crash, it will open to after the scene. Please fix this so that I’m able to complete this amazing game.
Update: I was able to make it past the second boss by pausing every couple seconds and keeping it paused for about 30 seconds. I’ve been going back now and getting the rest of the artifact things and encountered a broken one in the autumn steppe. It’s a challenge where I’m supposed to get the flame to the finish by maneuvering around different obstacles. Two deflection things are provided that the bird can move but after I moved one of them, it’s unable to move back. I have the bird grab it and it won’t move in either direction so I can’t finish it and get the flame to the end. I don’t know if this is fixable.
This game is honestly one of my favorites ever, but it is damaging iPhones!
Tue Nov 02 2021 Apple_BombEveryone involved in the development of this work of art, I salute you as it truly is an incredible experience. But I’m somewhat concerned with the ethics of porting this to iOS given that it causes overheating issues on my brand new iPhone 13 Pro, which should be about as state of the art as you can get in terms of mobile game hardware. And excessive heat is one of the main killlers to battery longevity. I understand it is a resource intensive game but I have to stop playing it as I don’t want to damage my phone :( I have even tried clearing out all background applications and turning on airplane mode, while helped a little but it was minor. I’m not sure what can be done to amend this, but i would gladly accept a graphics hit or shorter visual distances if it meant running at safer temperatures. Just my thoughts. Maybe even just a warning included to let players know it’s a possibility that it may cause damage or to avoid playing for too long.
All that being said, I am inspired to purchase this game on something with more processing power like on my computer or on a console so that I can still enjoy the game!
Best Game Ever for IOS
Thu Nov 19 2020 GUCCIGAMEREVIEWThis tops any other Apple Arcade game. Worth the subscription for this game alone honestly. It’s games like this that apple needs more of. It’s perfect except for some technical flaws. The frame rate and resolution drops 30-40 percent of the time. Doesn’t bother me so much but still needs resolving. No what frustrates me is the game crashes on me during the unskipable sauro cutscene when you beat the boss. Keeps happening. I can’t continue. I’m not starting a new game. It’s crashed on me when getting achievements. I no longer have them any more. FIX THE CRASHES. I have an iPhone 8. I really want to enjoy this game more. Will rate 5 stars after patch.
UPDATE - I managed to get threw the cutscene without crashing. I restarted my phone and paused the game often during the cutscene to give my phone some time to chill. It managed to work so I’m updating my review to 5 stars unless I hit another major roadblock. I love this game and I’m glad to have it on my phone!
UPDATE 2 - I ran in to a glitch where I got stuck somewhere. Turns out there are multiple saves you can load previously which took me a while to figure it out. That should be explained somehow from the beginning. I thought I broke the game and might’ve had to restart completely. I’m glad I didn’t.
The Funless
Fri Feb 10 2023 entedredYou start the game and are doing great! You beat the first boss and get some extra lightstones put them in the stone anticipate the reward but get nothing. You look it up and figure out that you need to get a ton more of them. You decide to go to the other areas and then come back to it later. Start getting discouraged by the second boss. After 6 hours and 13 walkthroughs you finally win. The you reach nimue. You spend weeks on it then decide to delete the app and reinstall it again after a year of not thinking about it. When you reinstall it you finally beat it. When you get to the bear you beat it pretty fast and you get sense of great accomplishment. You finally reach the godslayer. You keep trying for weeks to get past the eagle, get the bow and think it’s over. Then you realize you still have to beat the godslayer. After months of trying you beat him only to see a cutscene and the credits. You regain control of your character right in front of the place where you go to fight the godslayer and then you renter the place where you fought him out of your curiosity then find the exact same thing as the last time. You’re completely drained of your happiness and pride. In your sadness you return to the comfort of your creative mode world in Minecraft where the pathless can never hurt you again.
Beautiful game
Wed Nov 03 2021 K//GI’ve been obsessed with this game for a few weeks now and just finished it. Some of the puzzles and boss fights can get kind of challenging but overall this was a great game and I grew to really like the eagle companion. There are great graphics and good character development. I do, however, wish there was a longer introduction in the beginning to make the game’s premise more clear as it did get confusing who the tall ones were and who the pathfinders were when reading spirits’ “last words” bubbles. I also had some difficulty keeping track of the different names for the spirits (of the tall ones). I felt like more clarity on this at the start of the game would help the storyline feel more meaningful and add more conviction to the main character’s purpose in the game. It would also be helpful if it were clearer which puzzles to complete first, as they do seem to get gradually more difficult and lead you (spatially) to the next level/area of the game. All the other pieces to help the story along were there though. All in all, this was a well-made game and I’m interested to see what else this developer makes next.
Sometimes fun and sometimes frustrating
Fri Nov 20 2020 nadeempsThe Pathless is at its best when it's remixing the gameplay elements that made its spiritual predecessor Breath of the Wild so fun. Moving around is a joy, if your rig can handle it. Alternating between shooting targets and jumping, all while holding the dash button, feels wonderful, but alongside the game’s awesome sense of scale and color, it’s a feeling that’s hard to put into words. The Pathless also knows how to properly reward exploration and puzzles, bestowing not meaningless trinkets but the means to make moving around more fun.
It’s a shame, then, that this bliss is occasionally interrupted by some story-driven combat, a series of encounters that all fall on a spectrum between boring and antagonistic (the roving storm “stealth” segments) and somewhat enjoyable tests of skills (the finale encounter, suitably impressive to play and to watch) that nevertheless frustrated me most of all because they interrupted the really fun parts of the game.
I still recommend it. I’m looking forward to replaying it in a few years when the hardware I’m playing on can handle it on ultra settings at 60 FPS.
Devs...good game, but...
Sun Nov 22 2020 Risse26Devs, you really made a great game. Believe me when I tell you, I get bored easily. I’m the type of gamer to install a title, play it for maybe a week, and then I uninstall. I actually played this game through. Good storyline, kept me entertained, I loved running through the landscape shooting talismans. It’s almost like I was trying to make the character an aerial acrobatic with new moves and tricks as I was moving, jumping, and flying threw the air. It’s actually very pleasant to try and make her do cool stunts in the air. My few complaints : on many occasions I would accidentally hit auto walk or run. Very frustrating when you’re trying to get precise movements on a phone or tablet. Second, the frame rate drops are horrible. Getting yourself into intense visuals while playing and then having the frame rates drop 30% brings down the visual immersion of the game. Third : I’m running an iPhone 12 and I truly thought this would run flawless on the A14, but I felt like my phone could cook an egg on the glass surface on the back of the phone. No Bueno my friends. But long story short, in the end I hope you ladies and gentlemen make another amazing action adventure title. I would really look forward to it.
Controls
Mon Mar 08 2021 JoeyJoeyJoeyMoWow I gotta tell you I love this game. It’s possibly my favorite Apple Arcade game out there. My one complaint is the controls. I think it would make gameplay a lot smoother if we could customize the controls and where the buttons are because having the auto sprint button where it is has caused more than a few problems for me when I accidentally push it. If we could move where the buttons are or customize button size, that would make gameplay so much smoother and less irritating when I find out that I’ve pushed the auto sprint button and run off the edge of an obelisk or right into the jaws of Kumo. But overall, this game is lovely. The story is so cool and I really appreciate finding those little memories from the people who fought for or against the Godslayer before I came into the picture. I can feel this world pulsing with lore and mysteries to uncover and I hope this game continues to expand or maybe even get a sequel/prequel!
Amazing and Adventurous!
Mon Nov 16 2020 DarthGrommitWow! There are so many things to say about this. First of all, I love the story line. You have a clear picture of what you are doing. It gives you a clear and easy way to play. Plus, you gat a pet eagle! What’s more cool than that?! Each level gave you a different scenery. Not two levels were the same and each were it’s own level of difficulty. You get to solve puzzles and story like runes. Once your done, you could play it again! The ending was probably my favorite part. It was sad, but made me happy as well. Now, if I said all of this, it should get a five star review right? However, I did have difficulty’s with the game. It would glitch often any sometimes black out. Didn’t like that. But overall, I loved it. I wouldn’t stop playing. The graphics are beautiful and the story itself is just perfect. Good job on this! I really would like more games similar to The Pathless. Thank you!
Nimue was hard but the game is beautiful
Tue Dec 28 2021 Thehorsel0verI love this game, it’s beautiful and Nimue was very hard you just had to run around and not get caught. It was easier on a iPad than on my PS4. This game is so unique and I’m still playing through it, I’m on the last son the one that I think is a bear.
On my PS4 it kept overheating and would boot me out of my game every once and while but it will ALWAYS save your progress to the closest point it can. Which is honestly 🥰. And developers, don’t let the 1 star or 2 star reviews get to you, you made a beautiful game.
The game doesn’t have any in game pay for things, and this game is really just a giant puzzle with boss battles before you go onto the next boss battle. It’s beautiful and fun sadly I am getting close to finishing it. I love this game and I want a second personally. I would love to see the rest of this world that the devs have made.
The eagle is amazing and running around and shooting the talismans is so fun and then sprinting and you just keep on shooting them, I saw this game played by a YouTuber (I don’t remember the name, sorry) but I instantly fell in love with the graphics.
The parts where the eagle is in it is beautiful. And, SPOILERS!! When the godslayer took one of the wings I actually thought the bird FREAKING DIED and I was like 👁👄👁
Spoilers over
Please people, play this game if you like puzzles and boss battles. Also if you like eagles.
