Dinsun Review
The tower defense genre is one of my favorites, which makes Base Defense all the more disappointing. It gets the basics right—placing towers is snappy, and the upgrade paths are clear. But it doesn't do anything to stand out in a crowded market. The enemy pathing is predictable, the tower types are the usual 'fast but weak' vs 'slow but strong' tropes, and the art style is generic military-industrial drab.
What really kills it for me is the mid-game balance. It hits a wall where you either have to grind the same levels for hours to get enough scrap for an upgrade, or you have to pay. It’s the classic 'create a problem and sell the solution' design that I despise. It’s not a bad game, it’s just a cynical one. If you’ve played Kingdom Rush or Fieldrunners, you’ve already played a much better version of this.
