Blasphemous in IOS

Brutal action-platformer

Walkthrough, Guilds, Tips on this special game

Our Site Score

94/100

Blasphemous on mobile is a triumph of porting. The dark, oppressive atmosphere of Cvstodia is perfectly preserved, and the pixel art looks incredibly sharp on a high-resolution screen. It’s one of the most visually and tonally distinct games you can play on any platform, let alone mobile.

Don't be fooled by its 2D nature—this game is hard. It demands precision and respect for its mechanics. The touch controls are surprisingly competent, with a customizable layout that helps, but playing with a controller is where the game truly shines. The combat feels weighty and impactful, and the executions are as gruesome as they are satisfying.

Including all the DLCs from the start makes this an incredible value. It’s a deep, challenging, and hauntingly beautiful Metroidvania that respects the player's intelligence. If you have the stomach for its dark themes and the patience for its difficulty, it’s a masterpiece.

Dinsun Review

Now this is a proper video game. Blasphemous doesn't hold your hand, and in an era of casual mobile fluff, that is a breath of fresh air. The art direction is legendary—the pixel art captures a sense of dread and religious fervor that few 3D games can manage. Every boss feels like a monumental achievement when defeated. The combat is weighty; you can feel the impact of the Mea Culpa as it rends through enemies.

However, I’m still a skeptic regarding the transition to touch controls. While they've done a decent job, this game was built for a controller. Precise platforming over instant-death spikes becomes a gamble on a glass screen. The lore is dense and intentionally obscure, which I appreciate, but the backtracking can get tedious without the proper fast-travel upgrades. It’s a masterpiece of atmosphere, even if it’s occasionally too enamored with its own difficulty. If you’re going to play this on mobile, buy a backbone controller. Don't disrespect the game by using your thumbs.
