Bomb Chicken is a masterclass in 'single-mechanic' game design. Nitrome has created a platformer where you can't jump—instead, you lay bombs to propel yourself upward or create stacks to reach high ledges. It sounds simple, but the level design constantly throws clever wrinkles at you that force you to rethink how to use those explosives.

The pixel art is absolutely gorgeous, as expected from Nitrome, with chunky, expressive animations that give the chicken so much personality. The difficulty curve is perfectly tuned; it starts as a fun romp and ends as a brain-teasing puzzle-platformer that requires frame-perfect timing. It’s one of the most creative and polished platformers I’ve played on mobile in years. It’s explosive, funny, and deeply satisfying.
