Dadish 4 is a absolute masterclass in how to evolve a mobile platformer without losing the soul of what made the original trilogy great. Switching the protagonist to DJ (Dadish Junior) isn't just a cosmetic swap; it feels like a passing of the torch that revitalizes the narrative humor. The writing remains the sharpest in the genre, with the Homeowners' Association serving as a hilariously relatable villain for anyone who’s ever been annoyed by a $30 fine.
Mechanically, the game is as tight as ever. The level design in the latter half of the 50 stages is devious, demanding precision that feels rewarding rather than punishing. Riding on Momato and dealing with the new physics-based puzzles, like the exploding crates, adds enough variety to keep the 'comfort food' gameplay from feeling stale. It’s rare to find a game that balances high-stakes platforming with genuine laugh-out-loud dialogue, but Thomas Young has done it again. Whether you're hunting for every last hidden star to unlock the original Dadish or just enjoying the ride on a giant hamburger, Dadish 4 is a must-play.

Dadish 4 marks a fresh start for the series, following the events of the original trilogy and Dadish 3D. This time, the tables have turned: Dadish has been kidnapped by the nefarious Homeowners' Association over a $30 debt! Players take control of his eldest son, DJ (Dadish Junior), who must navigate 50 hand-crafted stages to rescue his pops. The game retains the series' signature tight platforming, minimalist pixel art, and hilariously sassy dialogue. You'll swing from vines, ride giant hamburgers, and even hop on the back of Momato (Dad's tomato wife). From the fiery depths of Brulado Pit to the crumbling Disfalanta Ruins, DJ will face off against five eccentric bosses, including the spicy Axalotaspice. It’s a heartwarming, humorous, and challenging 'video game comfort food' for fans old and new.

As DJ, you have the same double-jump mechanics as your dad. In the early levels of World 1, focus on mastering the 'Dash-Cancel' to clear wider gaps. Keep an eye out for the 43 hidden stars; many are tucked behind scenery or require you to backtrack after triggering a switch. In the 'Tunnel Borer' levels, don't rush—wait for the machine to retract fully before attempting to wall-jump. To unlock Dadish as a playable character, you must collect every single star in the game.

Dadish 4 introduces exploding crates that act as timed platforms—once you touch them, you have three seconds to jump off before they detonate. You'll also encounter 'Uncle Burgs' (the Burgurgular), who provides high-speed rocket-shoe sequences that play like a side-scrolling flappy-style mini-game. Boss battles require pattern recognition: for Axalotaspice, stay in the center and wait for the axolotl to stop breathing fire before stomping the pepper's head.
You must find and collect all 43 stars hidden throughout the 50 levels. Once achieved, you can toggle Dadish in the character select menu, which even updates the end-level dialogue.
