Dadish 3 is a delightful continuation of one of mobile's best platforming series. Thomas K. Young has a knack for creating tight, responsive platformers that feel like they belong on a console, and this third entry is no exception. The level design is brilliant—challenging enough to require precision, but fair enough that you never feel cheated. The variety of environments, from the back of a giant dolphin to the depths of a sewer, keeps the platforming fresh.
But the real star of the show is the writing. The dialogue between Dadish and his errant kids is genuinely funny, often poking fun at video game tropes and the absurdities of parenting. The boss fights are creative and themed around junk food, which fits the game's quirky aesthetic perfectly. It’s a polished, vibrant, and heartwarming adventure that proves you don't need complex controls to make a deep and engaging platformer.
Dadish 3 doesn't reinvent the wheel—it’s the same wheel, just with a new set of radish-themed hubcaps. As a platforming veteran, I appreciate the tight controls; when you die, it’s usually your fault, not the game's. The level design is competent, if a bit safe. What actually carries this thing is the writing. The dry, 'tired dad' humor actually lands, which is a rarity in mobile games trying too hard to be cute. But let’s be real: if you’ve played the first two, you know exactly what you’re getting. It’s a comfort food game. It won't blow your mind, and it won't replace Mario, but it’s a respectable effort from a solo dev that doesn't treat the player like an idiot. Just don't expect it to last you more than an afternoon.
Performance: Perfect 60fps; extremely lightweight on battery.
Buy if: You enjoy precision platformers and don't mind a bit of snarky dialogue.
Skip if: You’re tired of the 'retro' pixel-art aesthetic.
