Evo Explores in IOS

Illusionary and impossible

Our Site Score

89/100

Evo Explores is an absolute visual treat that pays a clear and respectful homage to Monument Valley, but it carves out its own identity through its clever use of 'visual logic.' The central mechanic—if it looks real, it is real—is a stroke of genius that forces you to abandon your understanding of 3D space in favor of 2D perspective.

The narrative layer adds a surprising amount of weight to the experience. Exploring the planet Byte and discovering the fate of its inhabitants gives the puzzles a purpose beyond just progression. While it's a relatively short experience, the quality of the illusions and the meditative soundtrack make it a memorable journey. It’s one of those rare games where the 'aha!' moment is almost always followed by a genuine smile at the cleverness of the level design.

Dinsun Review

Let's be honest: this is Monument Valley with a robot. Normally, I’d be harsher on such a blatant imitation, but Evo Explores is actually very well executed. The level design is clever, and it manages to introduce its own unique twists on the perspective-shifting mechanics. It’s rare to find a mobile game these days that is a 'one and done' premium experience without ads or energy bars, and for that alone, it earns my respect.

The story is a bit thin—something about a dying planet—but the visual presentation is top-notch. It’s relaxing, it’s intellectual, and it doesn't treat the player like a child. My only real complaint is the length; I finished it in about two hours. But those were two hours of quality gameplay, which is worth more than a hundred hours of some 'free' grind-fest. It’s a solid, conservative win for the puzzle genre.

Evo Explores is an atmospheric puzzle game that challenges your perception of space. You play as Evo, a space explorer on the mysterious planet Byte, where regular physical laws do not apply. By rotating and moving pieces of the environment, you create new paths based on optical illusions. If a gap appears closed from your perspective, Evo can walk across it. Immerse yourself in a long story about a dying civilization while solving puzzles that celebrate curiosity over simple skill.
