Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) is a masterclass in psychological horror and resource management. It doesn't rely on gore; instead, it uses the dread of the unknown and the uncanny valley of animatronic characters to create an almost unbearable level of tension. Sitting in that tiny office, watching the power percentage tick down while checking the cameras, is a uniquely stressful experience.

The sound design is the secret sauce—the distant metallic clanking, the giggles, and the sudden silence are what really get to you. It’s a game that thrives on 'jump scares,' but they feel earned because they only happen when you've failed your management task. It redefined the horror genre for a new generation, and for good reason.

Dinsun Review

Before the memes and the plush toys, FNAF was actually a decent, stressful little game. It taps into that primal fear of being trapped and watched. As a 40-year-old, I don't care about the 'lore' hidden in a pixelated mini-game; I care about the mechanics. And the mechanics are simple: it’s a glorified game of 'Red Light, Green Light' mixed with resource management. It works, but it wears thin quickly.

On mobile, the small screens make checking cameras more tedious than it needs to be. The horror comes entirely from the fear of a loud noise—which is the cheapest trick in the book. Once you figure out the patterns of the AI, the 'horror' evaporates, leaving you with a repetitive clicking simulator. It’s an interesting experiment in budget game design, but it’s hardly the masterpiece the internet claims it to be. It’s a one-trick pony that happened to neigh at exactly the right frequency for YouTube.

Version 2.0.5Thu Mar 07 2024

- Minor fixes and improvements

NOTE: Remastered version from the PC version. A device with at least 2 GB of RAM is required for this game to run properly.

Welcome to your new summer job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where kids and parents alike come for entertainment and food as far as the eye can see! The main attraction is Freddy Fazbear, of course; and his two friends. They are animatronic robots, programmed to please the crowds! The robots' behavior has become somewhat unpredictable at night however, and it was much cheaper to hire you as a security guard than to find a repairman.

From your small office you must watch the security cameras carefully. You have a very limited amount of electricity that you're allowed to use per night (corporate budget cuts, you know). That means when you run out of power for the night- no more security doors and no more lights! If something isn't right- namely if Freddybear or his friends aren't in their proper places, you must find them on the monitors and protect yourself if needed!

Can you survive five nights at Freddy's?

NOTE: Interface and audio in English. Subtitles in English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish (Latin America), Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Korean.
