I’ll be honest, the FNAF phenomenon usually passes me by. I find the lore convoluted and the 'fandom' exhausting. But FNAF 4 is a decent piece of horror design. Moving the setting from a pizza joint to a child's bedroom makes the threat feel much more personal and visceral. The reliance on audio is a bold choice; you have to turn your volume up and listen for the tiniest breath. It’s genuinely nerve-wracking.
However, my old-school sensibilities hate the 'game over' state. Dying isn't a failure of strategy so much as it is a punishment for not hearing a faint sound file. And the jump scares? They're cheap. After the third time a loud robot screams in your face, it’s not scary anymore—it’s just annoying. It’s a game of red-light-green-light with a scream at the end. Well-made for what it is, but it’s a one-trick pony.
