Really?
Tue Mar 19 2024 pog63Look, everybody knows and loves Game Dev Tycoon, but this is practically the same if not worse version of it. Its mostly entirely the same gameplay, with a few references to movies here and there but thats it. Doing a game report? Well you’ll forget what you learn because you only get a one time see of what goes good with what. Wanna progress the game? Nah, you wont be able to get anything better then a 5 rating. If you wanna progress, I hope you are willing to look up the wiki, cuz you’re not getting through it on your own. Overall a mocking blow at the original with a red N slapped on it.
Decent Game
Wed Jul 10 2024 BungerIIThe game is decent, but there are so many problems. 1. The Broken Rating System. I got 10’s for 2 games in a row, but suddenly on the next game I create, I get 2’s and 1’s, barely any reason whatsoever, because when I check the game report, I get a measly “Dialogue seems to be not important for this type of game”, I would appreciate a report that’s much more specific. Also, I can guarantee the 10’s I was somehow able to get was from pure luck, because I never got a 10 after that 2. The game is way too hard. If your trying to finish the game without using the wiki, then good luck, because it’s nearly impossible. I went bankrupt (for barely any reason, I blink once and suddenly I’m bankrupt) so many times without using the wiki. 3. Confusion. This kind of goes with the first one but it’s insanely hard to know why you’re failing or why you’re succeeding. The best the game gives you is one sentence that barely tells you anything. 4. Way too hard later on. Once you are able to buy the first upgrade to a new base, the difficulty is multiplied by 100, having to handle the workers and all of that other stuff, I can barely describe as I went bankrupt immediately after. 5. Contracts, All I want to say is that we really need a better description on how the contracts work, I never use them since I don’t know what they do. I really hope these issues get fixed as these are ruining everything about the game.
Overall review
Wed Jan 08 2025 SCFE ( Dragon city forever) DFI’ve played this game everyday since i got it, i enjoy it more than minecraft (partly bc i dont have friends that enjoy playing minecraft with me)! But i seriously love this game and i can’t wait for a sequel, as they say, funnest game im playing right now, id like some more save files though, also maybe more genres, like fps, genres like fallout for the post apocalyptic genre, basically sub-genres, i would love for more games like this and seriously cannot wait for more, i haven’t seen any bugs suprisingly which is (i’d assume) extremely difficult (seeming that some of the biggest game devs cant achieve that), thank you so much for the experience you’ve given me and if you don’t make another one im suing you! (im not gonna sue you idk if i can get in trouble for saying that), maybe make a music one! maybe make one where we’re the one trying to make the gaming consoles, i would love that, also if you do decide to update this game, please do make more genres, more levels, more rivals? more gaming consoles if possible, pretty please! thanks and bye!
A Little Too Much
Thu Mar 28 2024 PolerandThis is a type of game I typically love, and I do enjoy this one, too, but there are just a few things about it that are wrong.
For one, the pace is a little too frenetic. Sure, it starts slow, but by the mid to late game there are just a constant stream of annoying notifications - the most egregious being the PS1 equivalent’s announcement and day after follow up. I lived through the time, I get it, and while it is an interesting story, this is just presenting it like a pest. I would love to be able to turn these off and for some of them to be combined into one message, not two.
For two, the game’s pace is too hectic for what it is. There’s no pause button that I can find - at least once I thought I was on a screen that would function as a pause and focused elsewhere for a minute only to return to find unhappy employees who thought I was ignoring them. And so much of the game just flies by. I had the most enjoyment from playing after year 35 because there was a lot less of the mess.
Solid theme, addictive game loop, bummer of a pace.
Legendary.
Thu Nov 28 2024 JustSomeDude55Devs, please ignore most of the negative comments. Yes, the game is mostly similar to the other one, but it wasn’t made as a sequel. Every addition is welcomed, and I consider it more of a remaster. You all did an excellent job with the pop culture integration and giving us a few new things to do. It helped revitalize my interest. The game is difficult and unpredictable, but this isn’t a bad thing! It’s a part of game development. You think you have it all right, every trend and thing points to that this game will succeed, and then it doesn’t. The game encapsulates this, as irritating as it may be. Game Dev Tycoon is one of the better made mobile games with deep and enjoyable gameplay, and this rendition adds more to enjoy. Kudos! Excited to play your next game, Greenheart.
This is my favorite game, but…..
Sun Jun 16 2024 TiggyfiretigerIf I could give this review a 4.5 star I would! It’s one of my favorites! I’ve loved playing the original Game Dev Tycoon and I play it around this time every year! When I found out that there’s a newer version of the game with all new content available, I was EXCITED! It was like playing the game for the first time, except for I actually knew what I was doing.
However, I do have one thing….. There is lag when you get to the last game headquarters of the game. The lag wasn’t there in the original game but it’s here in this version of the game. It’s so bad that I thought that the game had crashed, and if I wasn’t so patient, I would have lost a lot of progress. I would love it if it could be fixed, please.
Nice Work!
Tue Dec 31 2024 Starblazed07I finished this in a day which isn’t a problem but adding more features or progression if you start over would be nice but really if you could slow the time down and allow for more games to be produced in between released consoles would be perfect. Also more features in general such as mobile consoles/ tech company’s for upgraded tech and one more studio upgrade to a more looking AAA studio perhaps adding 1 or 2 more employees to give it more that feeling. I could go on such as more topics and movies, but great job guys!! I am working on getting into game dev/design if you guys need help or are recruiting plus I am working on a mod for this game!
Good Game
Wed Jan 01 2025 UberlenI have played through this game once so far and can say I want to play again having learned little tricks. However, there is not a lot of ability to recall things done in the past to help maintain the same level of game quality and after specializing a worker there is no way of recalling what you specialized them in that I have found. Those are the only two major gripes. A couple crashes,l at different time so can’t specify what exactly happened. Have not played the original as other reviewers seem to have. Overall a real fun game that will definitely kill the time.
Difficulty curve is punishing
Sun Mar 24 2024 alltheusernamesaretaken777I love the original and played it on PC, so I wasn’t really willing to pay the $5 for the mobile version. Seeing that the game was free with my Netflix account, then, was great. However, the rating system is absolutely broken, with too great an emphasis on rewarding innovation, it seems. You’ll release a new game and get 5-7.5, then create a new engine and release the exact same game for a 9.5, then all your next games won’t go above an 8. I was using a guide off the steam page btw, so I was getting the perfect combos. It’s also nearly impossible to get a 10. And forget being successful after the initial upgrades to the first office building, you’ll be starving for good reviews and drained by expenses.
Great game
Sun Mar 17 2024 Alfrey BLoved the old version. Pretty much exactly the same just added a little more here. For people saying it’s hard it’s really not. Here’s a tip, first couple run through a will be just doing as much combinations cuz you can create game reports after releasing games. It tells you what works and a few tips that also carry on the next new game game so after awhile you’ll have all the data you need to make great games for later run throughs.
