By removing the paywalls for individual decks and offering themed content based on popular Netflix shows (like Stranger Things and Bridgerton), it becomes an essential tool for social gatherings. The app uses the phone’s front camera to record your friends' ridiculous acting and clues, which often results in hilarious replays you can save to your phone.

The gameplay is identical to the classic version—hold the phone to your forehead and guess the word based on your friends' clues—but the variety of decks here is impressive. It’s polished, fast-paced, and genuinely funny. Since it's included in a Netflix subscription, there’s no reason not to have it on your phone for the next time you're hanging out with a group.

Heads Up is a known quantity. It’s a digital charades game that works because it’s simple. This Netflix version is probably the best way to play it because it strips away the nickel-and-diming for individual decks. If you already pay for Netflix, this is 'free', and the inclusion of show-specific decks is a nice touch for fans.

As a 40-year-old, I find the social aspect of this much more tolerable than the usual mobile fare. It requires actual human interaction. The 'Squid Game' deck is surprisingly tough, and the app's recording feature—while embarrassing—works perfectly. It’s not a 'gamer's game,' but it’s a well-executed social tool. My only gripe is that if you aren't a fan of Netflix's current roster, many of the newer decks will be useless to you.
