Kairosoft is like comfort food for me. I’ve been playing their sims since the flip-phone days. This 'DX' version is great because it strips out the annoying 'energy' systems and microtransactions from the original release. It’s just the game, the way it should be. Building your ship and seeing your little pixel pirates go about their business is as charming as ever.

It’s not revolutionary. If you’ve played Game Dev Story or any of their others, you know exactly what to expect: menus, bars going up, and light combat. It’s a bit 'set it and forget it' in places, and the UI still feels like it was designed for a stylus, but it’s a solid management loop that actually lets you finish it. No predatory nonsense here.
