Top Hockey Game
Fri Nov 08 2024 Aho4TheDubThis is the best hockey game on the IOS store. I have never seen as good of quality game as this on mobile. It is an extremely versatile game and it has multiple modes so you can never get bored. It’s literally as good as FIFA mobile but it’s hockey. In some ways it may be better. The only thing that would be nice to add would be team logos and names of the players in playoffs mode but the logos may be copyright and the names may need royalties so if you don’t add it because of that it’s fine. No forced ads, so you only watch them if you really want something, and even though there are options to buy stuff, it’s not pay to win. So overall, an amazing game and I’m surprised it’s not on the top of the charts.
Edit: With the new gameplay, I would say it’s even better. My goal tender finally saves shots, the board battles are really nice, and finally having intros to spend blueprints on is nice, as well as how well they look. A couple things though- the checking barely does anything except starting a board battle, and the ai always seems to be faster than you when you poke the puck and it goes flying away. The physics are much better, and if anything the game has gotten much better with this update.
Best mobile hockey game.
Tue Nov 07 2023 brooksie019Best mobile hockey game hands down. For the past several years I have tried just about every hockey game in the App Store and they all sucked.
I downloaded this one the second I saw it on the store. It’s so much better then all the other ones. If your looking for a hockey game then this is the one!
There are a few changes that need to be made. Like when the other team has the puck, there should be a button to switch players, the game will also switch the player you are controlling without wanting it. For instance, I’ve been chasing a loose puck and all of a sudden the player I’m controlling charges which a lot do the times allows the other team to get to it first.
Or if your trying to back check, even if your guy is faster then the opponents, your guy can’t pass / go around him to make a move. Your player will literally just trail behind him.
Passing also needs a little work in terms of the direction / player you wanna pass to. Seems a little clunky at times.
Overall tho no other hockey game comes close to this one and I highly recommend it to anyone that’s been looking for a good hockey game like I have. Let’s go Wings!!!
Good but flawed
Tue Mar 18 2025 BHWrinkleI enjoy playing this game quite a bit as it’s a good balance between building a team over time and actually playing the game with that team. It reminds me of a tycoon type of game with the difference being you get to actually use the team you build and not just watch the matches. Furthermore, the gameplay itself is quite simple and easy to understand, making the game easy and fun to play. My only 2 issues are:
1: In the higher ranked matches, the goalies are WAY too good. I’ve had multiple matches that have gone through almost 10 OT periods at 0-0 with 30-40 shots in the game. At anything above a 90 rating the goalies block breakaways, one timers, and even 3-on-0 challenges with absolute ease.
2: The #1 star of the game will be the opposing team’s goalie 100% of the time. I understand the player stars don’t really effect anything, but having a 4-0 win and still seeing the other teams goalie win first star because of 9 saves is just downright stupid. There is no reason the losing goalie should get first star, let alone a star position at all. If I have a 3+ goal game, the three stars should be the three goal scorers, not the goalie that lost the game
Garbage controls & gameplay, ad-hungry terrible game
Fri Jan 19 2024 TNTResisterWhile in a game, my players constantly have problems moving fluently and just become static. When there is a clear pass available, often times, the player doesn’t even pass (despite the passing line showing up) and they just shoot it instead, causing icing. Speaking of icing, clearly this company has not done research about this game because apparently, shooting a puck into a goalie and then the puck deflecting off the goalie (while still crossing the line) counts as icing. In addition, apparently just poking at a player while they have the puck counts as tripping, even if you don’t trip the player. Makes logical sense. The fighting system is garbage too. It’s a waste of time and does barely anything. And it occurs like 2 times a game which once again is not realistic. I would get into the energy system but I feel like I’ve talked about enough. Thank you for wasting 5 hours of my life that I could’ve instead used to work at McDonalds to make some money to pay for college tuition. And thank you also for showing me how it’s possible to make such a horrendous hockey game that isn’t realistic and that makes me want to jump out of a 52-story apartment window every time I get an offsides call because either my forwards don’t bother coming back or my d-man decide to chill at the d-zone.
Fun, but an obvious cash grab and buggy
Mon Feb 24 2025 funnyguy836For starters, you only get 3 energy bars, meaning you can only play 3 games before having to either wait an hour for one bar, watch a bunch of adds, or pay an insane amount of money. there’s no permanent way to just buy if units energy. either buy it for 24 hours, or buy VIP which you have to renew and is insanely expensive. You players will get injured every other game. Med packs are so expensive and with how little energy you get it’s hard to get the money for it. It’s clear the game is designed as a pay to play type of game, and while on the rare occasion you actually get to play a game and with a healthy team it can be fun, you immediately get frustrated by only getting one game. Not to mention ghe extremely buggy movement mechanisms where your playing will glitch and not move, or where im trying to skate back on defense, not hitting anything, and the game will randomly change who im controlling leaving the attacker wide open. And lastly, the wonderfully terrible goalie mechanics. Goalie won’t go out of goal to catch a cleared puck 90% of the time, but if he does, he will stand there after and leave the net open. He will also sometime go up ~10ft in front of the goal on a breakaway and it’s a guaranteed goal for the other team every time.
Please fix this game but overall it’s ok
Wed Dec 20 2023 SubSandwichlolol1. The opponent can grab the puck from my goalie on a breakaway and score 2. Fights in all star league are impossible to win 3. Even though your goalie is better than other team the goalie AI is super dumb on only your team messes up everything 😆 4. Other teams that can even be worse are overpowered in all star level, can never poke check or body check however they lay the largest hits on you and steal the puck from you right when you get in front of them 5. Energy is really annoying and I don’t want to pay to have more energy or even ads plus the players get hurt 6. Game is too slow, would be nice to speed up a bit 7. Glitches like when you pass at the opponents goalie the puck slides right under his legs and it’s a goal 😂 8. Super weird passing lags like super powerful passes and the puck slides around the rink really fast 9. Please add more franchise features like more logos for your team, colors, etc 10. Please spend more time on the graphics, really it’s a good game if you improved more things it’ll be a really good game 👍 overall 2-3 stars, just fix the game and graphics, really it can be the best hockey game on App Store!
Good Game But Can Use Fixing
Thu Jun 26 2025 MiensneThis game is fun. For a free game, the mechanics are pretty solid. Has usual bugs for a sports game. A few complaints: Why am I level 43 and still getting bronze packets when I have all gold players? Example: I had one game where I got one goal, the other team had one goal: I got a silver packet. I had a recent game where it was a shutout, and I had five goals but only a bronze packet. Doesn’t seem to make sense (with the time of the periods, who’s scoring more than eight goals per game at max anyway). The other thing is I wish we could upgrade certain traits for players so that we can keep(and therefore actually play well with them) or trade them: stamina and speed for defense, agility and passing for wings. All in all, it's good, I wish the packets were better (I don’t want to drop $20 per month for one player when I’m at a high enough level where I should be getting some incentive to keep playing, not keep paying)
Disappointing…
Sat Oct 14 2023 Chappy2495The gameplay feels very similar to previous games, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but they added a few features that quickly get annoying.
1) The option to fight pops up much too often (it was happening 70%+ of my stoppages). When this happens you have to wait for a timer to go away if you don’t want to fight. No way to skip this.
2) Energy in game is very limited and if you want to watch an ad to regain energy to play a game, well then you have to watch THREE separate ads to actually get enough to play a single game. I understand the dev wants to make money and have no problems with the occasional ad, but this is a bit much at this point.
3) No improvements at all to the AI or penalty calling. You’ll randomly have all your teammates end up way up ice and give up a 2-0 with no real way to stop this from happening. Can’t change players effectively on defense without pressing the hit button, which just pulls them out of position often and is useless if you are behind an opponent.
—-The issue with hitting while behind an opponent relates directly to the issue of penalties. Much of the time if you are behind your opponent (even if you aren’t against the boards) you will get a 5 minute major for boarding.
So long read made short- the game feels like a hastily updated version of 23 with the goal of serving as a cash grab rather than an attempt at a high quality hockey game that we are lacking on mobile.
Fun game
Sun Jan 26 2025 App45It is a fun game, reminds me of the EA Ice Hockey from back in the Sega Genesis days.
Cons
The Card packets you get for winning build up and are lost or you are forced to use coins to open. Elder Scroll Blades did the same thing, chest would build and the time gate was more or less to make you spend money to open them.
Time gate fire starting out for arena are a bit high, losing interest will happen fast.
Drains battery fast. Wish there was a low graphic or low battery usage mode
Fights might break out every minute, there appears to be no penalty for fights. If you win though you get a fight boost which is odd. Penalties might break the game as I got into three fights back to back
Pros
Controls are pretty simple to use and you can make them more difficult to add more to game handling
Graphics / sound effects feel right, just need the smell of the Ice in those arena and you would be there
Team setup: Being able to customize your jersey is nice, a lot of options and you are not locked in for first picks
I feel I will run into issues with the time gated items. I play games, this game that game and bouncing around from game to game. With how big the time gates are already, I see in my future days I cannot play because I am waiting for a card pack to open. Which means most likely this game will head to the delete pile in the near future. Fun game though
Horrible compared to previous versions
Sun Nov 19 2023 IfytifhytghyfhfgchftcfhtchWhile the graphics are nice, compared the the previous everything else is horrible. The game plays slower then the previous one, with controls that feel clunky and untested. Often you will have a break away and your character will randomly stop and spin move, leading to the puck being turned over. Slow gameplay makes games feel like a chore, which was not a problem in previous games. The interface is slow and freezes randomly. The goal counter for each player does not add correctly. Regularly players who score more than 1 goal in a game will only be credited in stats as getting one goal in that game. The energy system, which only expiated one the ranked mode in the previous game, is now in every mode. You can only play 3 games that last about 2-3 minutes every hour and a half, or you have to pay money or watch 3 separate ads. Overall, while the previous game felt polished and fun, this one feels like a cash grab that does only the bare minimum.
