Highly Recommend. Worth the price!!
Sat Jul 25 2020 memememejfucjebfThis game is an absolute beauty. I love the look and play style. I’ve had this game for years and love playing it on my free time at work. The only thing I wish was different, is if you could customize the character. Such as getting so far or completing challenges you get new armor or weapon skins permanently where after each death and start of a new round/game, you’d still have that armor set or weapon that appeals to you. I fell like customization of the character would really top the cake on this one. Other than that, the game is almost flawless/perfect.
Hoplite
Wed Nov 11 2015 Q*bert goes boomVery good "bite-sized" strategy game. The scale of the game is not huge, and that's part of it's appeal. The simpler graphics are also a part of it's appeal ( retro and more modern). When you do end up getting the fleece you feel you've accomplished a good battle run. The added options of more life, more energy, longer jumps, etc. are a nice addition to your strategy plans ( bonus -- they are IAP free). Well done!
Solid strategy
Thu Dec 10 2015 ljk.ljk.ljkThis is a pretty solid turn-based game. It will take you time to get good at it, which can be discouraging at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll start to like it better. It's not a perfect strategy game, but it does what it does pretty well.
Also, it has a fun challenge of the day mode that is shorter than the normal game where you start off with different varieties of power ups. This feature kind of saves the game for me, to be honest, as the longer game can take a good chunk of your time to get through. About 20-30 mins. Plus, it's kind of annoying to have to start off for the very beginning every time.
Absolutely addictive
Wed Jun 17 2015 Ryan M RA simple but fun game. Innovative. The rules are easy but it gradually becomes harder level by level sucking you in. Fun mechanics. Short games are easy to play multiple times in one setting. Achievements give you some longer term goals. More of a strategy game than everything, this is not a simulation or a role playing game. Highly recommended.
Support For New Devices!
Sat Jun 13 2020 UbisububiAlthough I stopped playing games that didn’t have widescreen support, I couldn’t bear to delete this one so it languished in my “Purgatory” folder with a (very) few other gems from yesteryear. But no more! I have moved it out of my folder of exile and placed it back on page 2 with the rest of my mostest favoritest games EVAR!
Look on his works, ye mighty, and despair!
Amazing strategy game
Fri Mar 11 2016 VeldroIf you have some time to spare getting good at this game is a lot of fun. It has a steep learning curve and has almost infinite replay ability due to its multiple powers and daily challenges. My one complaint is that it is really hard to do a run without killing anybody since they sometimes kill each other.
Fantastic game
Sun Jun 07 2015 Jay1054Love this game. Everytime you lose, you know it's your own fault. The game is never unfair. Plus no in-app purchases, which is fantastic.
My only feedback is to go back to the harder daily challenges, or at least make them available too! So much more fun than these new easier ones.
My go-to game
Tue Oct 31 2017 Bjorno223Many games have come and gone on my phone over the years, but Hoplite remains forever. I sometimes will go months without playing it, but I inevitably come back to it and get re-addicted every time. My personal record is floor 73 and I've unlocked every achievement. This game is close to perfect.
Tons of replayability
Mon Nov 18 2019 Ruggan_SAI’ve played this game off and on for 4 years. Many long droughts during that period, but this is one of the few games that I’ve never deleted from my iPhone. Roguelike nature, simple and fair mechanics, plays well on small devices (iPhone 5S). Love it, just wish there was more like it.
Simple, Clean Rouge RPG
Sat Apr 15 2023 VaughnbrosGood, but just isn’t much to play for after level 16 so it’s a very short game. They should continue to allow you to obtain abilities. Enemy unit types could use more variety as well.
Some of the rules don’t seem to function quite properly with the upgrades, e.g. can’t backstab using Winged Sandles extra space.
