Let Off is one of those 'hyper-casual' titles that clutters the App Store nowadays. The premise is simple: drive a car, don't get caught by the cops. It’s a concept as old as the medium itself, and this version adds absolutely nothing to the formula. The physics are floaty, making the car feel more like a hovercraft than a 2-ton vehicle, and the police AI is remarkably dim-witted.
I’m tired of these games that rely on 'satisfying' crashes to hide the fact that there’s no depth. You do the same thing in the first minute that you’ll be doing in the hundredth—if you even last that long. It’s a repetitive loop designed to show you an ad every time you fail. In my day, we called these 'demos.' Now, they're the top-grossing games. Disappointing.
