I recall a time when games were designed to be played, not just to serve as a delivery vehicle for 30-second clips of other games. Paper.io 2 has a mechanically sound loop—there’s a genuine tension in venturing far from your zone to claim a massive chunk of the map. The movement is fluid, and the 'cat and mouse' gameplay with other players (or bots, more likely) is briefly entertaining.
But Voodoo’s insistence on interrupting the flow every 60 seconds with an unskippable ad is an insult to the medium. It breaks any sense of immersion or momentum. Furthermore, the 'multiplayer' feels hollow, often populated by AI that lacks the tactical nuance of a real human opponent. It’s a 'junk food' game in the worst way: unsatisfying and leave a bad aftertaste.
