Bud Spencer & Terence Hill: Slaps And Beans is a love letter to the iconic duo and the golden era of arcade beat-'em-ups. As an expert in retro-gaming, I was blown away by the attention to detail; the pixel art perfectly captures the likenesses of the actors, and the soundtrack is filled with authentic tracks from their films. It’s not just a generic fighter—it’s a cinematic experience that manages to feel exactly like one of their movies.
The gameplay is a satisfying blend of classic brawling and clever mini-games, like the iconic buggy races or the beer-and-hot-dog contests. While you can play solo and switch between characters, the game is best enjoyed in local co-op. Each character has a distinct fighting style—Bud is the slow-moving tank while Terence is the agile speedster. It successfully modernizes the 'Double Dragon' formula with better variety and a healthy dose of humor. For fans of the duo, this is a must-play, but even for newcomers, it’s a top-tier beat-'em-up.
This is a weird one, and I love that it exists. If you grew up in Europe or just happen to have a refined taste for Bud Spencer movies, this is a masterpiece of fan service. It’s a side-scrolling brawler with pixel art that actually has some personality. The animations for the 'slaps' and 'beans' (yes, the food) are spot-on to the films. It feels like an old arcade cabinet that somehow got ported to a phone.
Now, as a pure brawler, it’s a bit simplistic. The combat doesn't have the depth of a modern *Streets of Rage*, but it makes up for it with variety. One minute you're punching guys in a bar, the next you're in a dune buggy race. The soundtrack is licensed from the movies, which is the real cherry on top. It’s a bit short and the touch controls can be finicky during the more precise mini-games, but for an old-school gamer like me, it’s a breath of fresh air.
Performance: Stays locked at a smooth frame rate; best played with a controller.
Buy if: You have fond memories of 80s brawlers and classic action comedies.
Skip if: You need complex combo systems or 3D graphics.

Mini-games aren't just for fun; they provide essential health refills and coins for the next level. Pay attention to the on-screen prompts during the buggy race to avoid crashing!
Not at all! The gameplay is a classic arcade brawler that stands on its own, though fans will appreciate all the 'Easter eggs.'
