I appreciate a game that doesn't waste my time with tutorials or storylines. Star Jolt is as honest as a game gets: you start, you move, you die. The pixel art is crisp and avoids that 'fake retro' look that many mobile games fall into. The music is great if you’re into that 80s synth stuff, which I am.

It’s brutal, though. This is not a game you play to relax. It’s a game you play to beat your own record, and then your friend's record. The controls are responsive, which is non-negotiable for this genre. My only complaint is that there isn't much variety once you've mastered the basic movement pattern. It’s a one-trick pony, but it performs that trick very well.
