Virago: Herstory is an excellent expansion of the Virago universe, offering a more episodic and story-driven approach compared to 'Naked Reality'. This time, the focus is on Willow’s life in a town filled with bizarre characters and vile citizens. The hand-drawn aesthetic remains top-tier, and the addition of new modes—like 'Virago Craft' and the ability to play as the character Victoria—adds a lot of replay value.
The gameplay is smoother than its predecessor, with improved controls and player speed. I particularly enjoyed the 'Season 2' content, which feels like watching a dark animated series where you control the outcome. It still maintains that signature moody atmosphere and challenging platforming, but it feels more accessible for casual players thanks to recent updates that reduced the ad frequency. It’s a compelling, artistic journey that really makes you care about Willow’s survival.
As a companion piece to Naked Reality, Herstory does its job. It provides more context for the main game and keeps that lovely, haunting art style I enjoyed. However, it suffers from the same issues as the previous title: it’s just too short. You're basically paying for 45 minutes of gameplay.
The mechanics are still a bit clunky, and while the story is poignant, it feels like it should have just been included in the first game as a single cohesive package. If you’re a fan of the first one, you’ll like this, but if you’re looking for a deep adventure game, this is too light on content to satisfy. It's a niche title for a niche audience.
Performance: Identical performance to the first title; minor platforming bugs.
Buy if: You loved Naked Reality and want more backstory.
Skip if: You want a 'real' platformer or more than an hour of play.

Virago: Herstory (also known as Virago World) continues the journey of Willow in her struggle against a dark reality. This installment introduces brand-new levels, a dress mode, and a playable secondary character, Victoria. Navigate through a town of vile citizens while experiencing hallucinations that alter the environment. With weekly episodes in Season 2 and the 'Virago Craft' feature, the world is more expansive and interactive than ever before.
Episodic story progression
Multiple playable characters
Hand-drawn 2D visual style
Smoother gameplay and controls
New 'Virago Craft' mechanic
Willow's hallucinations can now be managed more effectively. Keep an eye on your character's stress levels; certain items in the world can clear your vision.
Victoria's levels play differently than Willow's. She has higher speed but lower defense, so focus on evasion rather than direct engagement with citizens.
It exists in the same world and continues the story, though it can be played independently as an episodic adventure.
