Feels incomplete
Mon Jan 20 2020 photokeithEdit: updated to 4 stars because you can unlock the last level and items as the dev stated. Maybe the shop keeper could remind you of goals since it does take a long time to reach them? This is a very entertaining game that would easily be 5 stars with more content.
Original review:
As of now there are only 4 levels you can play. There is a fifth level (the battlefield) but no way to unlock it. Or if there is a way to do so they give no indication how. There are also a lot of weapons and other upgrades that are locked but again no way of currently unlocking them. If they’re meant for a future update why include them now at all?
Monotonous Fishing
Tue Sep 22 2020 AwesomeNick94I love the art style of this game and had some fun with the gameplay, but ultimately I see no reason to play this over the much more entertaining originator of this gameplay, Ridiculous Fishing. Also, the AppleTV version of this game has a few issues. Redeeming smolpedia challenges takes anywhere from 3-10 seconds, sometimes the home button doesn’t work as it should, and the game doesn’t support the PS4 controller, and maybe any controller. I wanted to like this, but instead I dragged myself all the way through and was disappointed. The gameplay is very slow which is most evident when you’re playing a level any further than ~2000m. There aren’t a whole lot of level chunks to pick from randomly, so it all feels samey and mindless once you’ve learned it. Also some more text would be useful, I still have no idea what the gear mech familiars do. It felt like the starter ship and weapon were the most effective as well which was a bummer, and because you need to spend money on rope and nets to progress, there’s not a lot of room to experiment. What was the point of the gears? I have like 600 of them that I’ll never use. So yeah, play Ridiculous Fishing. Amazing game.
Unnecessary design choices
Mon Mar 30 2020 MurcielagoZhouI can’t image how strange could a scroller shooter game be until I see this one. There’re quite a few unnecessary designs which makes the overall experience odd.
The first unnecessary design is the rope length, Since the hero already has a HP which will be damaged and wrecked. Why do the developers add another mechanics to control the length of the game? In the early game, the battle just stopped suddenly, I am so confused why until I realized that 250M is the max I can reach by then.
The second is the resource collecting mechanics. Maybe the developers want to contain 2 gameplay in the same session. But the resource collecting experience is really bad. I have to travel back to collect some of the coins and gears I just won for myself. And If i hit any collision, I will lose whatever I have collected. Since the coin and gear is randomly separated all over the map, hit obstacles is almost unavoidable.
The third is the shooting. The shooting will stop if the hero is moving. It feels unconventional compares to other games in a bad way. Shoot and dodge is one of the key essences in this type of game. Removing it means removing quite a lot of fun and excitement.
Hey devs, hear me out if you want!
Sat May 01 2021 WSJUser123I never write reviews about anything. NEVER. I bought the Apple Arcade subscription because like many, I’m a huge fan of gaming. My go to when it comes to mobile gaming has always been something casual. This game is one of the best casual games I’ve ever played in my entire gaming life. All I’m asking here is, add more content. Please! This feels incomplete. There’s so many little things that can be added to make this so much better.
A SOLID Game!
Wed Nov 04 2020 XtopherSkidooThe hate for this game seems based off earlier versions!
I didn’t pick this up until a day ago, but I LOVE it! It’s the perfect casual game experience that I like to see from Apple Arcade. This could have ABSOLUTELY been gacha freemium game, but because it’s on A.A., it can enjoy its spot as a wonderful little time waster!
This game is addicting, has lots of great load outs and fun weapons, and it really grows on you! Does this game deserve to be 5-stars?... no, sorry. Does it deserve to be 3-stars?? No way! This is a solid 4-star game, and while it may have a limited lifespan, it’s great.
🥪This game is addictive... 🤘🏻

that trying to go further and reel them in ...
4 stars because Apple TV version not supporting controller ... unbelievable, I am not playing games with that Apple TV remote 😓what a shame .. I mostly play on the Apple TV 4K
Also it would be great to add a leaderboard of Game Center for each stage to compare with others how far we have done ...
or add a daily run mode with leaderboard with random fixed plane & weapons or remixed random generates stage like every game does nowadays
Still waiting on controller support.
Wed Sep 30 2020 Kinema01Otherwise, pretty good. It’s like Ridiculous Fishing and Gradius mixed in one. If you like upgrades, this will be up your alley.
But it’s been a while, and there’s still no controller support. Zzz...
Repetitive, slow and overall not great.
Fri Jul 30 2021 DrLyndonThe game as a whole is simply too repetitive. And the upgrades that you can buy take a ludicrous amount of time to unlock and purchase. The idea is good but execution is bad. Hitboxes are clunky, upgrade system is way to slow, gameplay is repetitive, maps don’t change gameplay just esthetics. Better games are available on the Arcade, this one is most definitely worth skipping.
Excellent Progressive Shooter.
Tue May 03 2022 The Space BoyDon’t let the reviews discourage you from playing this game! The game is solid; Progression system feels fair and balanced, and the difficulty curve is just right. Found myself playing this game for hours on end, which I did not expect.
Something's wrong...
Mon Mar 30 2020 klakatyThe game freezes often on the loading screen when it's loading the launch pod. Other than that this game is fun and seems to run fine otherwise. It's a very interesting creation of a vertical shooter game.
