As a long-time fan of the tower defense genre, Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD+ is everything I hoped for and more. The 'Alliance' gimmick isn't just a subtitle; seeing the heroes of Linirea team up with the Dark Army adds a fantastic layer of strategy and lore depth that feels fresh yet familiar. Controlling two heroes at once is a game-changer. It requires more micro-management than previous titles, but the reward is a much more dynamic battlefield where you can pull off incredible combos.

The visual style remains top-notch with that classic Ironhide charm—saturated colors, witty animations, and hidden Easter eggs everywhere. The level design in the 22 campaign stages is brilliant, often forcing you to rethink your tower placements mid-wave. It’s challenging without feeling unfair, and the lack of in-app purchases means the balance is tuned perfectly for skill rather than spending. This is easily one of the best reasons to have an Apple Arcade subscription right now.

Dinsun here. Ironhide knows exactly what they’re doing. They haven’t changed the formula much because they don't have to. The dual-hero system is a legitimate improvement, adding a layer of micromanagement that makes the late-game levels very intense. The art style remains the best in the genre—detailed, funny, and clear. It’s a 'safe' sequel, but when the foundation is this good, 'safe' is exactly what I want. It’s the most polished TD game on the market, period. If you like the genre, you already know you're buying this.
